Not a great quality video, but just about watchable.

I couldnt have been that old. Remember it clearly though.

Did the goalie have any grounds to argue the goal? I dont think so.

I think he was just trying to save face as he realised he looked very silly indeed.

I don't think the first goal should have stood, would a ref still give it in the Prem today? Would he give it if that was Man Utd's GK? ;)

I remember Robbie Keane doing something very similar, can't remember who against though.

As Cliffy said, at the time it happened it was a legitimate goal but the rules have since changed in such a way that you wouldn't get away with it now.

Don't see a problem with it tbh, it looks like he took enough care to make sure he wasn't nutting the keeper, thereby not causing dangerous play. Cheeky sure, but illegal? Great goal :).

Yeah I remember it. There's been a couple. I know Smith did it before he went ****, has Fowler done it too?

Those were the days - the goal was fine to of stood - keeper had only one hand on it.

I love this Georgie Beast one where he and Gordon Banks do a little dance where Banks attempts to kick it out of his hands, and Bestie nips in and knocks it away from him to score - totally legal, but the ref didn't give it

Didn't Solskjaer do it for us last season?

He kicked it out of the keepers hands as he went to throw it down to kick it and tapped it into the net.

It got disallowed.

I'm sure that there was a discussion on MoTD about it as well.

edit: I think he even got a yellow card for it too

Whilst the ball is between the keepers hand and foot it is still techincally in his posession.

I don't think such a technicality really matters it just can't be allowed. For the simple reason there's always one who has to take it to the extreme and spoil it for everyone else. For example there will be a Bolton or whatever who crowd players around goalkeepers at every opportunity in an attempt to steal the ball and score.

So it needs nipping in the bud.
