Was looking around a large newsagents today (can I say its name as its not in competition with OCUK?) and looking for Custom PC, PC Format and such like I normally buy, and there amongst them was a 200+ page mag/book called The Ultimate Overclocking Guide and its made by the PC Format lot.
Just wondering if anybody has bought it and found it useful? I had a quick look through, and it seemed to be 200 pages of cooling and 20 or so of overclocking haha. Plus it seemed rather usless, I was hoping for in depth info on things like the different voltages (PLL, Term, GTL refs etc) but couldnt find it anywhere. The "basic" guide just said up the fsb, and the "advanced" guide basically covered upping the Vcore... hardly what I'd call advanced
There was some stuff that looked usefull, overclocking RAM and adjusting the timings, overclocking the GPU, just things that are often second place to CPU OCing.
Never the less, I put it back down, not least because they were asking £15 for it!! Pretty much everything in there Ive found out already from reading these forums haha. Anyway, has anybody bought it/seen it? Just wondering if my quick skim through is wrong and its actually helpful or not?
