so i just formatted my PC and wanted to re download and install FireFox,

what the hell do i need to download googleupdater, google this google that software for?! i just want the damn browser !!

"we know you just want the toolbar"

No i just want the broswer, if i want to go to google and search i bloomin well will do?!

i used to use firefox because it was simple tabbed browsing, but its so frustrating that its been royally shafted with all this google branding and bloatware forced on it:/

rant over.

Someone has forgotten to take their medication. :p

Relax, it's just that you have to untick an extra box - some users want the toolbar.

I can't find it in the Firefox installer though, but I know there are things like that in the Adobe Reader installer.

Uh....I downloaded FF 2.0.0.12 the other day for a mate to install on his machine, there was no Google 'bloatware' in that.

ditto, i downloaded the 2.0.0.12 and there was nothing google related during install.

i love it when people rant about something, moreso when no one else seems to have come across the same problem!

erm, actually its been packing with googleware for a while from at leaste one of their sites. which makes people like you look rather silly for trying to do the same to people like the op. just because .12 doesnt.....lol

The Firefox release that comes from mozilla.org has never had any Google Toolbar stuff added to it (the search bar, which defaults to Google, aside)

If Google push a software pack including their own version of Fx with all that added that's up to them. There are loads of people that distribute their own modified versions of Firefox...

I've personally never had any version of Firefox come bundled with any other crap but that's not to say it doesn't happen.

I do hate how applications come bundled with all this stuff though - DivX coming with Yahoo toolbar, WinZip coming with Google Toolbar and tons of other stuff. Sometimes there'll be the option to download versions that don't come bundled with it, but it's not as visible as it should be. Those applications that don't provide the option are annoying because they're just a waste of bandwidth - unfortunately for these software companies, I don't just click next all the time on whatever I'm installing :)

No...as said, none of the releases from the official Mozilla channels have Google stuff bundled with them. They're always completely clean installers.

well some of us have been magically redirected by the internet pixies then because i had to choose not to install the googletoolbar at least once, and it wasnt that long ago lol:)

Reminds me of a certain free virus scanner that if your foolish enough to download from so called 'unofficial mirror' sites, comes bundled with lots of lovely spyware and trojans.

Moral: Only download from the homepage

Well I have downloaded it from Mozilla site every time and never had anything to do with Google toolbar anywhere in site.
The latest version does not have anything to do with google as any part of the install neither.

ive seen google toolbar in the FF installer before too. and that was from the download now button on the mozilla site.
