Ive had this strange sensation a few times when sleeping.
It feels as if you are awake but then some kind of feeling paralyses you and you cannot move, it seems to slowly creep up on you and takes a lot of effort to stop it happening, if you let it go further you go into somekind of wierd trance like state but i usually just snap out of it.
It sounds quite odd but does not freak me out, maybe its a dream or part of dreaming but I just wondered if anyone else has experienced it?

wow, thats really amazing, never realised it was common, at least i am not going mad!
Had some really bizarre dreams lately too, I guess the shift work does not help.
I might just "let go" into one of these episodes to see what happens, I usually just concentrate and bring myself out of it.

It is comforting to know that Im sane and not going mad at least, it only occurs once in a blue moon, no real pattern to it, have had some bonkers dreams though, I had my first ever movie type dream where I woke up all sweaty and tense, I was in car park somehere, and I was directing HGVs to park in bays, then i looked up and saw a helicopter, the helicopter then flipped over and crashed down to the ground landing on top of me, which is when I woke up, frankly quite strange.
