As title really, ever since the 3.00 update i've been unable to get the game to even launch. I've deleted all of the game data and game saves on my system to ensure it isn't corrupted data and the disk is practically scratch free (couple of tiny scuffs but nowhere near bad enough to cause issues).

I'm running the latest firmware and all other games run perfectly. Uncharted just gets stuck at the spinning coin when i launch the game.

How do you know it is not the scuffs causing the issue? I would try borrowing a mate's copy, just in case.

It is quite hard to scratch a BD in my experience as they have a coating on them (as anyone who has bought a Blu-Ray off me can attest to :) ), I have no idea what kind of issue a scratch would cause, but locking up freezing does not sounds entirely out of the question.

Because they are barely visible, you have to angle the disk at a light source and really focus on it to even be able to see them. I'm unable to borrow a copy. Also i can't even hear the disk being read (when an optical drive is struggling to read a disk you can hear it trying over and over again), the system doesn't hang, it just stops at the spinning coin. I can quit out to the XMB no problem, when the PS3 has a disk read error it tells you about it, it doesn't just sit there for ages (15 mins and counting in this case) waiting for you to quit.

I guess, as that is what happens on other systems I have used with scratched discs, but having never scratched a disk on the PS3, I would not want to say for certain, one way or the other, what the symptoms may be. I have had games lock up before, but they are usually ones where others have reported it too.

Is there any reported issues with the exact symptoms as you on PS3 forums?

If you want I can post you mine to test (it is "scuff" free :) ). I have COD:MW2, God of War Collection, Peggle, Peggle Nights to contend with so don't need it for at least a week?

I appreciate the offer RP but i just tried the disk on my parents machine (can't believe i didn't think of that before!) which hasn't even been updated to 3.00 yet. The game ran perfectly so this must be a firmware issue.

I'll have a browse on the forums.

I know this happened a long time ago but I've started playing Uncharted again and it was fine last week but yesterday it just stuck on the loading screen.

Anyone got Uncharted and able to test it out for me? Every other game works fine but this sticks at the initial loading screen. Can't remember if the last time I played it was before or after the most recent update or not!

Still sticks on the initial loading screen for me too, i've given up. It's not a widespread issue but there are some of us out there and Sony are offering no solution.

upgrade to the latest firmware. I had the same issue and getting to the latest and greatest solved it for me. Not sure what the latest version is though.

I should have the latest as I play online a lot, I'll check tonight but it's really annoying as I wanted to completed 1 so I could play 2 :/

If it was this simple i would have fixed it by now :p

I had limited success in getting it running by creating a new blank user with no DLC, savegames or PSN account. You won't get trophies or anything but at least you can play it through.

[EDIT] Oh and, if you create this 'blank' account, make sure you log into that account as soon as you switch on your PS3 if you want to play Uncharted. So much as loading another account renders this fix useless until you've rebooted the PS3 again.

Streeteh, it could always be a blu-ray laser issue. Perhaps yours isn't as strong at reading slightly scuffed disks compared to your parent's.

Ive played Uncharted all the way through last September before Uncharted 2 came out on my Slim - Im sure the Slim started with FW3.00...

ps3ud0

I thought that too, until i transferred everything over to my parents PS3 and tried it then from my account. It didn't work. Something is corrupt in the depths of my account, with that said i deleted EVERYTHING (all game saves, all game installs, all DLC) and it still didn't work. Only completely formatting my PS3 got it working 100% but as soon as i transferred my backed up accounts back onto the PS3 it all went wrong again, the very existence of my accounts on the HDD causes the game to stop working.

My profile and all 'old' profiles on my PS3 are corrupt, i know that's whats causing it, but i'm sure as hell not going to delete all of my accounts to resolve the issue. I'm not too fussed as i've platinumed the game, it's just the girlfriend wants to play it (she recently completed UC2 without ever playing UC1) but can't which is a bit of a shame.

I rang Sony and explained the issue, they told me to delete my profiles and start from scratch, bog off!
