These look like pretty impressive chips, dual 65nm cores, 2mb cache per core (4mb in total, nice clockers (over 4Ghz seems very easy) and under £200.

Seem to give some nice performance for the money.

Interesting, but not enough. It's only a small performance increase over the 800 series. I'm more waiting to see what Yonah can do as well as the newer chipset which is due later this year. Still, if in the market for a DC Intel, then heck, yes of course. Oddly though, Intel still lag behind the X2 even with the improvements made.

I was very tempted, great clocking chips at a good price with no cold bug. However I think I'm going to wait for Yonah, that looks very promising right now.

No motherboard suport for Yonah though!!!!!

and i quite fancy a presler, the 940 though as the 930's and 920's seem to be speed binned so not so good clockers, but they have the right multi mmmmm i wouldnt mind haveing a crack at one though!

the 3.2's are getting better clocks, 4.7 to 4.9 some even going over the 5 gig on water. phase has seen 5.5g

the 920's on average get to 4.2 to 4.5 for a good one unless your on phase change. the 930's look like speed binned 940's all needing extra voltage to get in the high 4.5's

only thing is the the 920 and 930 offer the best multi for clocking although iam tempted by the 940 because if you could get 4.8 on water at 300fsb

the 930 would be the best choice 4.9 at 330fsb !!!!!! i wouldnt mind some of that but i think it would be better to wait and let the first batch go before buying as the chances are more good cores would come in the 2nd batch release

some good speeds are being had on air also. and i saw your post on the asus 975 chipset board!!!! good board with some good results being had, again tempted but my 955X is a stonking board and as always not all are born equal.

ive got the nvidia p5nd2 at the moment, get really crappy clocks with my 630, only about 3.55ghz before it starts going teets up. I might order the board and a x1800 crossfire first and see what fun i can have iwth that before getting the dual core, hopefully it wont be too long before the 3.2 comes down in price.

well the 630 should get to 4gig easy! plus i might have a bargin in the next 2 to 3 weeks on a X1800xt if you get the crossfire version. and that board will get better clocks than the NF4 board as they are well known pants clockers for intel CPU's

and yea hopefully the 3.2 dual's will come down in price, i may well be tempted myself then. and dont forget cedermill is due any time which should give good clocks

Ive already got a X1800XT , thats why im looking for the crossfire one :)

well the things to consider are, 1 is your PSU upto it? 2 crossfire will eliminate the need to upgrade GFX for a while untill vista and DX10 cards are established.

its one of those questions really, do i really need it? awnser is always yes if your into overclocking, its a never ending cycle really lol

check here at the extreame 3d forum for crossfire and intel, but 975i boards are new so there might not be many awnsers as yet

My psu is a hyper 480w - it says its sli ready, but its only got one pci-e cable on it strangely, it also dosent have the 8 pin power plug on it that is on the 975x board, so im not sure it would be man enough for the job.

well i would say get another PSU, but as always its if funds allow. to run 2 X1800 cards plus some serious OC i would say a 600W of a decent brand with at least 30w on the 12v rail

intel CPU's are power hungry so more the better. also remeber the quality of the psu is important, read reviews and read the power outputs carefully. some of the cheaper brands badly misquote output to there advantage.

i would say board and high output PSU top of the list

moneys not really a problem, i just dont know whether its worth getting a dual core intel at the moment, when it would be just like having 2 630's - but with hyperthreading, its not really as crucial compared to having a single core amd. Ill sleep on it, ill probably go for the psu/board and crossfire board just now, and see how the cpu clocks before going for a new chip.

It's actually been found that the 940's have been speedbinned, and the 920's are the best clocking currently.

Alternatively you can get a 6x1 Cedar mill, people are getting 4.5Ghz clocks on air from 641's.
