Anyone else unable to get on steam?

I cannot connect to Steam, even though I'm online and Google Chrome and other non Steam games work fine.
I have tried running Steam from the old location on a 2nd hard drive, and from a new install of the steam client, on the C drive.

I'm running Win 7, but it did this quite often when I ran Vista

No Firewall is on, and my Router is working fine, Its worked before with the same Router settings anyway. Crappy Steam!

Can't connect here either, sticks on "Connecting to:" for ages, then says "Cannot connect" or some such.

had it happen to me twice this week now but no error message for me just said connecting and never did

the first time it happened i ran the steam install exe and did a repair and that worked, then when it happened again today i had to uninstall/reinstall (remember to cut/paste out your steamapps folder if you try this)

I made a thread on this the other day too, I've had a few problems this week connecting. I think they must have issues their end as there have been complaints on the Steam forums too.

Yeah, can't get in here either. Steam.exe appears in the processes list, but there is no Steam GUI or anything.

Im on it but its trying to update tf2, just say "download starting", been that way for a few mins now.

I had same problem, I deleted steamclient.dll, SteamUI.dll, Steam.dll and the ClientRegistry.blob file from my steam folder and it worked

Edit: Spoke too soon, it's started updating but very slowly and I don't know how far it will update

Edit: nah it's not working, now it's just stuck on updating.

Lucky you, it won't even open for me. It did used to say 'Connecting' then it just stopped and now doesn't even do anything...

There was a massive update for Company of Heroes Opposing Fronts, but I had a problem connecting previously because I had PeerBlock running at the same time. Not sure about the status with PeerGuardian, but exiting PeerBlock temporarily fixed the connection problems for me.
