Its amazing how far we have come what with Vista coming

Remember:

C:\
CD:\
DIR
DIR /p

etc.

Spending hours tweaking the autoexec.bat and config.sys to get Commander Keen to run!!

Those were the days, when your 640k Conventional memory was everything to run dos games.

I used to tweak the autobat and config sys for ages, loading your cd-roms into higher memory ;)

yep, been there lol.

anything to free up enough base ram to run leisure suit larry the original.

Only good one of the series.

used to use xtree and xtree gold for file management then as well.

When the PC couldnt do parallax scrolling and all me mates with consoles used to laugh :D

dir /w /p

:p

Ninja editing autoexec.bat and config.sys files to free up enough base memory to get certain games to work, whilst still trying to get as many drivers as possible in there.

I still keep finding old dos boot disks with names like

"Wingcommander boot disk - KEEP" or "Ultima 8 boot disk - DO NOT DELETE" :)

Those were definately the days, fun games with addictive gameplay and graphics that were definately second fiddle to the gameplay.

I don't miss the problems i had with windows 3.1 though.
