Thanks to the rise in the average price of games on release and the somewhat muddled feel of E3 this year i've noticed my preorder shelf is emptier than it has ever been right after an E3 show. As it stands i've got:
Final Fantasy VSXIII (lulz) - £35.00 (On preorder for around three years now
)
The Last Guardian - £32.95 (On preorder for around two years, ordered when it was still called 'Trico)
Ico/Sotc collection - £27.85
Out of those three, only one is an E3 inspired preorder. Two years ago i reckon i preordered more like 5-6 games off the back of E3. Now, i still think there's lots of really great titles on the horizon, but few were 'pushed' at E3 as much as they perhaps could have been and with release games edging on £40 these days i find preorders hard to justify. For example look at portal 2, that's already down to £28 on the PS3 and that comes with a free copy of the PC version! The preorder prices are just too high these days and the depreciation is quicker than it's ever been.
Has anyone else found that they buy games on release/preorder less than they did a year ago? If so, is it for the same reasons as me, or is there more to it?
