Just wondered if anyone had ever had any problems with buying via credit card from OcUK.
Why i ask is this -
About a month ago a friend of mine asked me to upgrade his graphic card and psu, i do so purchasing items amounting to around £130.
He had given me his card and details previously, the transaction went through quite smoothly although i did have to ring him for a password for the passport stage which comes at the end, no problem there.
Jump forward to yesterday, my friend contacts me saying that his card has been
used without his authorisation, namely a £25 transaction on the same day that i ordered from OcUK, a computer system purchased from ***** (***** actually rang him re: delivery to Coventry !!), multiple purchases in USA, including £2 in a resaurant.
Obviously he knows i have nothing to do with this.
He reckons he only used the card twice previously, to buy a TV from another etailer (********) which was returned faulty and refunded and to pay a parking fine (by post).

The police have been informed and he is getting the fraudulent transactions re-credited to his card.

Over the last 6 or 7 years i personally have bought thousands of pounds for myself, other friends and my boss (2 projectors) from OcUk and i have never had a problem at all, hence the reason i keep returning.

I am at a loss as to what could have happened in the instance.

:(

i doubt it has anything to do with OcUK however i would call them to inform them just in case, it could me something on your computer, hope your mate gets his cash back.

Nothing to do with OcUK, you must have something on your computer if he hasn't used the credit card anywhere else other than those hes said.

It's much much more likely to be related to sending the card number to pay a parking fine via post (where anyone who sees the letter can see the card number;)), or your PC even than something at OCUK.

The credit card fraudsters these days don't even need to see a real card number to try it on, as all card numbers are created using a fairly basic algorithm, and if 10+ years of serial numbers for computer software has taught us anything, it's that you can get serial numbers/keygen software for anything (it might take the software a few attempts to produce a valid one...).

I order stuff using my parents/grandparents card all the time (depending who i ask first)

so theres 3 cards.. mum/dad/grandma - all are fine n dandy

I'd check your PC tbh :)

/suspects keylogger

Do credit-card fraudsters ever get caught?

Only the stupid ones that make paypal transactions or get stuff delieverd to their houses, etc...

I know a guy that has bought over $2000 worth of gameservers/webhosting/domains and then sold them on... this is why paypal phone me up everytime buy anything internet related

Yes, I got sick of the retarded bank of Scotland security thing you had to register with and gave up.

Can pretty much rule out a keylogger, as surely my own card would have been scammed by now, besides, i checked

All i can think of is his card was cloned previously.
It's just the £25 transaction on the same day that i used it that's bugging me.
