Anyone ever run old 3D benches to test the latest hardware against your oldschool gfx

3D 01 and 3D 03 if you can please.Be interested to see how these 8800GT/GTS etc perform against your old cards.

Im still running a x1900xt and that gets 17k or so in 03.What does your card get ?

I have 01 and 03 but when I run them they crash after the 1st test, not sure why. Infact 06 is the only one that run all the way through.

8800GTS 512mb btw

Well 01 and 03 wil be heavily cpu dependent with newer cards, so max out ** CPU if you want high scores.

How about this one

For reference a Voodoo2 SLI rig would have got a score of around 4-5 marks.

03 is more GFX card dependent, I get 48K with one Ultra and 72K with SLI.

When 03 was first released they compared a celeron to the AXP using the same GFX card and the scores were about the same.

thats right. we are seeing a trend here though. what starts as gpu limit becomes cpu limited the further we move forward. '05 was gpu limited, to the point where the cpu's were making little difference. but the faster your gpu is, the bigger the difference the cpu makes to the score.

That first test in 3dmark03 with the planes is CPU limited. The rest use shaders and are GPU-bound.
