Having seen a couple of the Ostrich Burger companies and the such like at Festivals this year, I'm wondering what Ostrich is actually like as a meat?

How tasty is it? What kind of meats is it similar to in texture/taste?

I'm also wondering if anyone knows anywhere decent online you could buy it from?

Interesting as I walked past one yesterday at the London South Bank Christmas fair. I was a tad hungover, but the smell did not inspire me. A friend has eaten it before and stated the usual, it tastes like chicken. I suppose I would be interested but this van was selling them for more than decent beef burgers and I find it hard to believe they will taste as good.

Had a bison burger recently which was fantastic.

Exactly why I'm intrigued... Price presumably means something... Although to be fair I'd hardly say a burger is the way to get the best out of a meat xD

I've tried it from this place: http://www.gamstonwoodfarm.com/

Cooked it like I would do a steak and did it to medium-rare.
It wasn't bad, but didn't have masses of flavour.
Given that it was more expensive than a decent bit of sirloin steak I don't think I'll be trying it again.

Wife had an Ostrich burger which I tried, not too bad. Not nearly as good as my Buffalo burger :)
