I am. Although I'm certainly not desperate about owning a Chrome OS notebook/netbook myself. I have a perfectly good PC running windows 7. I know what it can and can't do, and I'm happy with it.
So why would Chrome OS (or at least the concept of it) benefit me?..
Well, countless times I have been round to my parents, grandparents, aunties & uncles to fix their computer. As soon as they know you know your way around a PC, they've got you round to fix something - it's not like you can refuse!? I'm sure of many of you can relate to this (http://theoatmeal.com/comics/computers)
Recently my Auntie asked me what I'd recommend as a good laptop upgrade. I helped her and she ended up with some Acer laptop, but I couldn't help thinking "I wish those Chrome OS netbooks were out (and mainstream by now)". There isn't one thing she does on her laptop that couldn't be done just as well in some "Webapp" (sorry to use the term - don't really like it myself). Look at Gmail, Aviary, Google Docs, Picasa Web... the list goes on - and it's growing rapidly.
To summarise:
As a concept, I'm excited about chrome OS because it should get the majority of users getting the best the web has to offer.

To summarise:
- You can't "break" Chrome OS like you can with Windows i.e. installing loads of crap you don't need so it slows down over time and becomes a pain. I know how to fix these things/prevent in first place, but the majority don't!
- A Chrome OS netbook should be cheap shouldn't it? Compared with a Windows notebook/netbook: no OEM windows supplied, and less expensive hardware required. Tell me if I'm wrong.
