Just picked up what appears to be an old gaming computer that was going to get dumped, so I won't know if it all works, certainly needs a Hoover lol, anyways the power supply in it is a 600w Xilence, which would be ideal to power my 260x assuming it's actually working, but never had this brand before so don't know what the quality be like.

Would it be worth keeping for a secondary gaming computer which eventually be sold??? Don't know what cpu is in it, but could possibly be good, it has a Gigabyte GA-EP45-DS3R so the board has good potential if everything checks out.

They certainly arn't the best but are just above cheap chinese models if you don't go over 300w on it I think you should be safe, just don't leave the room with it still running :D

The only Xilence 600w models are the Redwing and Gaming which are both Andyson built units with dual 20A 12v rails giving a pathetic 420w and the XQ series which is built by Sirtec and has dual 25A 12v rails giving 504w. None are particularly good.

Why do you keep buying all this old junk?

i didnt buy, theres a dont just bin it page for areas where i live for items nobody wants and i needed to get my hands on some parts for another system i was given, so i put in an advert and this was 1 of 2 i picked up with this one being the better spec should it work(well the gpu is a 8600gt and working fine in the computer i was originally working on, gave this one a hoover out only, so no testing yet).

but i like this 'old junk' as you put it, hence the last bit in my sig ;).

the 260x i got was for some fun testing so by no means a replacement for my 270x, but i would have better resale if i include in a system thats decent rather than just a single item :D.

and really the only real reason i put the advert in was because i was about to buy this for £15 from his original £20 price, but seller became an ass when we was making arrangements and said he will get more on the bay which happened to have an interesting party already as a power supply was all i needed.

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £49.49
(includes shipping: £10.50)

the computer i showed has 2x4gb of ddr2 team group out 16gb accepted, 2x pcie x 16 slots(x8 the 2nd slot), that 600w psu and a 500gb sata drive, so depending what the processor is, i could use it as a windows 10 mild gaming computer for myself ;) and as extra ram be the only thing id need to spend on its decent money in my pocket.

its all in the fun of having a habit of working on computers!!!

This computer gets better for me, fires up fine and had the exact processor I was hoping for, but was going to buy anyways which is a Q6600 , so basically I just got a quad core system for jack all  , cost me over £30 to upgrade to a quad in a previous system and people sell these for over £50, so happy days.

Certainly only ram I need to spend on for sure, get this bad boy to 8gb or more and should be pretty good for gaming.
