Anyone Experiencing NTL/Virgin Media Internet Problems?

It would realy help if you gave us some idea of your UBR as if you ask the question of any ISP that serves a large client base the answer from someone will always be 'Yes' though that answer won't help you much ;)

Is it a shared connection, have you connected direct to the modem, checked for viri/spyware, are you wired or wireless ? Any other apps running that would slow your connection 9especially p2p). I did check your other post on the same subject just incase you included more details but you didn't.

Sorry,

well basically my internet is teribly slow atm, and only has just started being like this the last few days. I downloaded Itunes last night, which is I think 37MB right? And my download rate was 12KB/sec, and im on a 4MB connection. It takes minutes to load web pages etc etc.

Im not running any P2P atm, but when I do the down rate on that is around 0.23KB/sec. But my connection is coming through a Belkin router, and im wired.

So im just wondering whether anyone else is experiencing these kind of problems.

Also are you using a modem or a set top box for your connection?

Until a week ago i was using a STB and was always getting speeds close to 4meg and it had been like that for yonks, now since they installed a new modem and filters on the wall i'm lucky to get between 1 - 1.5megs.

I've reset the modem, router and pc but still wont fix the problem, and as i've done speed tests many times over the last week, i'm going to call virgin media up tomorrow and get them to sort the problem out as i'm not going to pay £25pm for 1meg.

Hope that gives you some somthing to go on.

4mbit on a set top box is impressive considering on old TW they couldn't support 2mbit (it capped under that on the pace units), guessing you're in a former NTL area ?

Matt, connect directly to the modem (without the router) and see if you still have the same issue. If you do it's either a local issue (your software/hardware) or a fault. Least by doing this you eliminate the router as the issue.
