I’m looking to relocate to Lower Earley due to a new job in Sindlesham. With a budget of £300k, Lower Earley seems to be the most affordable place in the Wokingham area.

Anyone live there, or know the area? Would be grateful for any opinions good or bad.

Seen some nice houses there which are close to the M4, is it noisy living close to a motorway?
Cheers

i dont live far from there.it seems a nice place to live i think most people who live there are professional types getting on with life. i dont seem to remember reading a lot about crime in the area in the local paper ime sure there is some but its not high like some areas.on the whole i would say its ok but a bit nondescript in my oppinion. have a look a woodly its next to lower early not far at all ...

I lived there until last year. I owned a house in the "Herbs and Spices" area (Parsley Close, Tamarind Way etc) which is the older part. If you can get a place there it's by far the nicest bit of LE. The newer part isn't so nice in terms of the amount of land you will get with your house.
Lower Early is an OK place and is very convenient for just about everything. There is little crime but it has the usual large development problems of scrotes hanging around in their euro crap-boxes, revving their asthematic engines with their massive exhausts.

You've got a big Asda there plus a couple of pertrol stations and the bus links to town are good.

A word of warning though, Lower Early way is absolutely horrible in the morning if you need to get anywhere.. Factor on 20 mins to get out of the area in the morning on top of the normal travel time. It used to take me 45 mins to get to Bracknell which is about 12 miles by road.

Poke me on email if you need any specific info [email protected]

I live on Ryhill Way which is about a minute down the road from where Rilot used to live (but better :p). Personally I think Lower Earley is one of the nicest places to live in the Reading area. In my opinion Woodley is not so nice and should be avoided.

The convenience of Lower Earley is really actually rather fantastic. ASDA, M+S and Iceland are all within 30 seconds of each other and a petrol station nestles between them for when it's 6 on a Sunday and you want some Dr.Pepper. :D

And with regard to the motorway (which we live very close to) I personally never notice it unless I'm consciously listening. It's actually fairly relaxing too (like white noise)!

If you can afford it live in Henley though (Henley rocks the bestest.)

Thanks for the replies!

I will be visiting Lower Earley either next week or the week after to look at some houses and to get a 'feel' for the area.

Hopefully the traffic shouldent be too much of a problem for me as I will be working shifts.

I have seen a nice house on Rainworth close which is close to the motorway. I dont think the noise will bother me but my parent say it will be deafening. A visit will will decide one way or other.

I like the idea of the ASDA and other shops as Im quite useless at stocking the cupboards at home!

Rilot summed it up. I live in Wokingham and travel through LE to work.....not nice if youre trying to get out of there in the morning, but 300k will buy you a good house in the area, and its only a stones throw from Reading town centre.
