anyone from nottingham...

Technically NG3 for me, but I live just off Huntingdon street (back side of victoria centre, around the corner from aldi and the foresters)

big fan of board games... but I have a curry planned, followed by drinks in the local! :p

Out of interest, what games are you guys playing?

I brought a couple for the family on Christmas day, just standard though, Monopoly, Risk, Cluedo and some random game called Logo.

Sorry for the thread hijack but I could not let this post go uncommented upon.

Visit this sub-forum, then throw out all of those games you just bought. We can teach you proper board games! Especially check out the Tabletop thread.

yeah not bad considering the town is considered fight club central :D.

I've spent the past 10 years drinking in pubs/bars in Nottingham on a very regular basis and in that time witnessed very little trouble.

I live right in the city centre and before that I lived in Radford which is an inner city area notorious for drugs, gangs, ect. Even in Radford, though I saw beatings, criminality on quite a few occasions, I never myself experienced trouble but at the same time I don't really cause trouble.

There are problems in Nottingham, well documented, but unless you are directly involved or associated with that kind of crowd you should be pretty safe.

There are a few pubs in the city that are best avoided though.

I must be the most socially awkward person, I'd never meet a random person online after knowing him for 2 mins. Glad you guys had fun :P

Kind of understand that. But assuming you do go out to pubs, don't you talk to random people? Group meets off the internet are basically the same thing. You speak to people you don't know just like you would normally the only difference you've all arranged in advance to be there.

I dont think many people i know would actually just post on a forum asking to meet people either, but this christmas has been so bad for me. so thought id give it a go.

if i didnt try it, id have been sat at home, just thinking about all the stuff thats got me down at the moment, but thanks to garry and alex, i had a wonderful xmas eve, dominos pizza, games, chat and alcohol....WIN.

something so simple just cheered me up enough to get through my couple of days of work and ultimately give me a good few hours of getting away from my problems.

they gave me the best gift il have this year for sure.

Live in city centre, and prior to that radford? are you me? that's exactly what I did.. used to live in the woodlands (legoland), and now live just off huntingdon street..

As you said, I've never had any trouble.. don't go looking for it, don't find it..

I've never seen any trouble round here tbh, I'm just on the estate by the bowman pub, so Imight be a bit too far out of town for it?

When I'm next off work DG, we will have to sample a pint in the locals... I've only been into the bowman and that weatherspoons in town...

Not tried any of the others!
