I had a bit of an epic journey yesterday. Left Winchester at 2pm, aiming for Milton Keynes(ish), a distance of about 100 miles. It took me 9 hours in total, with the section from the A34 at Newbury through to the A34 at Didcot taking just over 7 hours - a distance of 15 miles, at an average of about 2mph. I think it would have been quicker to crawl!

Really feel for the people stranded overnight on the M5! :(

Got partially stuck on the m5, thankfully I was going southbound & was sent home from work at 2.15. Took me about an hour & a half to get home (22 miles or so).

At 11a they had already closed a lane off on both sides to replace the central barrier before the rain was an issue. Get back on it on my way home & the muppet drivers aren't using the 800 yards or 3 lanes having chosen to merge veeeery early. So mad my way into it & got about 400 yards before some **** of a lorry driver decides that isn't on & blocks the two lanes

Get past that & further on the left hand lane had flooded so was back down to two lanes, then past that people were being middle lane drivers despite the left hand lane being fine  Got off at J13 & the a38 was flooded in places. All the way from J11 to past J13 was backed up on the M5 Northbound even at that time, was unbelievable. The way some people were driving as well (no lights etc) I would be surprised to hear that there were no accidents southbound afterwards.

I think I got off quite lightly all things considered. It took me 8 hours from North Wales to Surrey. It was all fine until getting to the end of the M6 toll. Heard it was a 2 hour queue on the M42 followed by another 4 hours to get four junctions down the M40, so decided to go cross country round the East of Coventry and down to Oxfordshire. Passed many, many abandoned cars and impassable roads. Got a clean run down to the M25 and then had to re-route several times around villages flooded in Surrey.
