as per title. BSOD win32k.sys and then the solution manager blames ATI Technologies

edit: Is cat 7.3 and vista 32bit Ultimate

ive read a few probs with vista, some games and this driver....also BSOD...

have you tried reinstalling the driver? reinstalling the game? checked your RAM and also run scandisk on your HDD??

these are some of the reasons why you are experiencing your issues so I believe...

good luck

p.s. if you remove drivers remember to use something like driver cleaner to totally remove the drivers...cheers..

I fixed it by disabling the ATI External Utility service via safe mode. No BSOD anymore with that disabled.

However, Catalyst 7.3 control center is still borked. I got error as soon as I booted back into normal mode. I unistalled it. I ll try with the driver only without CCC and see how it goes.

Edit: Is an "official" problem from what I read around the net. Catalst 7.3 + Vista = no go yet. A temp fix is to disable the service "ATI External Utility" completly

This is UNACCEPTABLE.

This incident gave me second thoughts about R600. If mature chips is so hard to run in vista, what will happen with new!?

I am ticked from that "interview" of that muppet of ATi talking about "being ahead" with "stable" and "high performing" drivers.

Sorry!

7.3s running sweet as a nut for me on Vista64 & an X1950XTX:), Never had a single issue with this card & Vista with any set of drivers for that matter. My 8800 however in my system is a total disaster but that's a different story.

This is the FIRST time EVER that I have had serious problems with ATi drivers. As said, use the workaround posted above or roll back to 7.2.

This is their third driver release on Vista, if you're not going to buy ATI, are you going to get a nVidia card with their brilliant vista drivers? Vista is a new operating system, there are bound to be problems. The very fact that ATI have been working with the community (and directly to myself) shows they are dedicated to create the best drivers possible.

My brother can't get his x1950 Pro AGP card to work with these in vista. But then again even the 7.2's don't work. Vista Aero is constantly disabled and there is a warning sign against the card in the Device Manager. :(

And heres me running Nvidia 7600's in SLI in Vista without problems! Isn't it meant to be the other way round lol. :p

I had a problem of BSODs often when I booted up, I went back to the drivers that Vista installs automatically upon installation and the problems gone now. Likewise this is the first time Ive had real problems with ATI drivers, theyre usually pretty decent.

You got me wrong there mate. The problem with me and ATi is the constant discussion around their vista "ready" driver. In big companies like ATi people dont even read what their colegues post. They go on talk trash, while there is a known problem. Thats what bothers me.

And as everyone else, I do belive the issue will be solved in the following days.
