Anyone getting slightly tired of 'JustGiving' requests?

If you don't want to give/can't afford it... Don't?

Balls to peer pressure and the like, grow a spine man! Grow a spine!!!!!*

* perhaps you can start a justgiving of your own about growing a spine. Get revenge and a backbone, its win/win!

I get spammed out at work, for stuff like "I'll cut my hair for charity" (I'm not joking) - personally, I'll skip the middle man & donate directly myself for that kind of thing.

On the other hand I have been running my own just-giving page, but mines a little different (art for charity) & in total honest 4.5 hours per donation is bloody hard work :D

That is the difference.

If you really want to skydive, it will not be a challenge for you.

I want to skydive but the thought of throwing myself out of a plane makes me fill my pants. I don't even like flying.

If I can raise money to a) kick myself up the ass to go through with it and b) do something good for charity then why the hell not?

Just because some people are miserable buggers, just delete the email/request..

As a runner I get annoyed by people asking for anything under half marathon, some guy on Facebook wanted people to sponsor him for a 5k is he having a laugh, it's not even a challenge!

As far as people who do races for charity you have to pay for your own place then anything on top goes to charity, sure you can get a place with a charity for London marathon but be prepared to raise £2k minimum for the privilege of a guaranteed entry

I'm doing a tandem sky dive for charity on the 5th July. I'm paying for my own (and a colleague's) jump.

I am not pestering people for donations as I don't feel that I should do. Still, if people want/do not want to help others, then it's there choice.

I'm raising money for Cancer Research, by putting on a music event all day (12pm to 3am)

I am paying for the venue hire, any nominal fees for beers and such like for the bands etc. advertising etc. etc. and my team are working for free. All money is going to Cancer Research.

They raise all this money for their own gap years so they can go out and teach some kids or build a well. Why dont they just hire a professional builder to go out and do a better job in a fraction of the time?

about 6 years ago i looked up a few of them about me going out using my building skills (semi qualified joiner) and i got told off 3 different organisations that set these up that i could only do it if i paid the £3k+ like everyone else, when i asked for the qualifications of the guys leading the project i got silence from one, a point blank "hell if i know" from the 2nd and the 3rd threw a hissy fit at me saying "if you dont want to help you can go to hell".

after that the only charity's il help will be local ones to me as a lot of these over sea's ones seem to be some sort of stepping stone for gap year students and money making schemes. cynical i know but the amount of cash these things ask for and what work is done just doesnt add up in some cases.

as for people running marathons and stuff fair does to em, if they treat it like a badge of honor and wave it about fine tell them to take a hike, but when its people running trying to raise money for something thats helped them or their family i think its a nice thing to do. beats the hell out of doing nothing after all.
