Anyone going for the Zotac Z68?

Zotac seams to max oc on 25/2600's @ 4.5Ghz. Everyone has said a better BIOS would help. I'd be happy if it allowed 5G's

Next year will be pointless as new tech by then!

I am tempted after waiting ages, 4.5 is fine really for a mini case with limited airflow I think. But I havent seen it anywhere but Germany yet apart from pre order

I spoke with them and they said there due any day, i then spoke with the importer as someone thats ment to do there job can't and they said next week they should clear customs

Gigabyte already said don't expect one till next year so :(

I don't get this. Gigabyte could have easily had a Z68-based ITX motherboard out by now, though Ivy Bridge is just a die shrink of SB, that is assuming LGA1155 will still be used so maybe not ;)

Haswell is the successor to Sandy Bridge and isn't expected until 2013, however.

No, I'll give it up to a year for the itx market to mature a bit more.

My current machine is just fine, so I'm not in any hurry.

happy with it so far ??

still not showing in stock anywhere I can find

I got mine through work off the UK importers.

Yeah it's alright. 4.5Ghz is the max and nothing more even in windows via everything possible. It's all BIOS related. Have even looked to see if i can be modded but too complex.

Im using 8 SSD's on an Intel RS2BL080 SAS RAID Controller - PCI Express, so 4 cores 8 in theory, 8GB RAM overclocked it's very very fast!

I would love 500mhz more for the magic 5GHZ, this chip does 5.4 so it's the bord holding me back!

Sounds fine. Just wait until better boards come out then flip it if you must have an extra 500MHz.

How's everything else? WiFi and drivers, sound, etc.? Have you managed to test any of the Z68-specific features yet?

Wifi i don't use.
Audio i use SPDIF Chord Optical to a cambridge audio dac magic, does sound good.
Not yet tried Z68 stuff, not sure what to do there.

I just got my mini pci exprese sata raid card today, 2 ports on. This is to go in place of the wifi card. It's a std SATA II 3Gbps and was £40. Im just about to test it out.

8 SSD's @ PCI-E 8X is fast!

I want to try and config the ethernet for one up and one down if possible

How about Virtu?

All i've done is build the system in the following spec

I7 2600K @ 4.5Ghz
Zotac Z68
Intel RS2BL080 SAS RAID Controller
8 OCZ Agilty 3 60GB RAID 0
2 Port Mini PCI Express Internal SATA II Controller Card
Patriot Viper II Sector 5 Series 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-16000 C9 2000MHz
6 Western Digital Caviar Black 2TB 64MB Cache
Corsair AX 1200
Windows 7 PRO OEM

All open on my desk currently.

Im going to trace out a backplate template so i can use my EK block on the 2600K.

Im using the onboard GFX which has played HD fine so far on a 60'' screen.

I got the mini sata controler to work perfectly and im able to boot off it as well which is handy. Fact i had XP Pro and W7 Pro both OEM, W7 on the 8 SSD's and XP on the mini pcie with 2 of the 2TB's!

I need to look and see what the Z68 offers other than over clocking and test it out.

Im currently tweaking the SSD RAID setup to get the best, getting over 1000 mbs :). Glad i got a nice discount on them!

What happen to the socket 2011 mobos due this fall ?

Would have loved it if gigabyte mobos did come out, would have been an excuse to upgrade to a nice new rigg for this fall and BF3 :)

How about Virtu?

You can use Virtu on an H67 board. I tried it on mine and frankly it was pants. My setup (i5 2500k + 2x HDD + HD6950 with unlocked shaders and overclocked to 950MHz) Draws 60W idle and with virtu I was idling at 45W so no vast difference at idle. But when gaming I was losing a good 10 or more FPS so frankly not woth it IMHO. The idle power on modern GPUs is so good it really is not worth it.
