I have the the Hannspree (HSG1164) Tablet which i bought second hand some time back,Its running custom Android

Android Version 3.0.1
Kernel Version 2.6.32.46-cyanogenmod
Build Number - 10.1

When i switch on the tablet now all it does/say is...

" booting recovery kernel image"
...then that takes me to Clockworkmod recovery.

in recover - backup and restore - i get the following options

-Backup
-restore
-Advanced restore

i choose restore and get

-2011-12-11.23.54.46/

selected that and confirmed restore.

Then it says

Checking MD5 Sums
MD5 mismatch!

So im totally lost what to do,The custom rom that was on this tablet anyway was good,But things did not work right (specifically video related stuff),Volume buttons were opposite to what they should have been, and rotation did not work at all. :D

Ive asked on about 4 different android forums, but nobody replies and the ones that do are not really helping all that much.

I have found the Orig stock Rom available for download but no details on how i go about installing it back to my tablet,So if anyone can help me do this id appreciate it heaps!

Appreciate any help!

Does the tablet have an SD card slot? Is the ROM in a zip file? If so, if possible, take out the SD card and connect it to your PC. Then paste the ROM onto the SD card (not in any folders or anything). Place the SD card back in, and boot into CWM recovery. Then choose "Install zip from SD card" and find the ROM. Once that's done, choose wipre cache partition, then under advanced features, choose to wipe the dalvik cache. Then pick the reboot option. The first boot will take quite a while setting everything up.

Just a note that this WILL format everything on the internal memory. Data on the SD card will stay.

Thanks for replying!

Yes it does have a SD slot,The problem is when i put the custom rom file on my SD card and do the above. and select "Install zip from SD card"..loads of folders come up but i cant see my rom anywhere?

The rom i got hold of that they say is good for this tablet is called "CyanogenMod CM7 Hannspad 'Slightly Blue' Edition - v1.5" i believe its based on Gingerbread.

Ive contacted the guy who i bought this tablet from to see if he can provide any help,As i cant find the Rom for the custom version of android that's currently on here messed up.

If you go down the list you'll eventually see it, don't worry, this got me confused as well when I started with flashing :p. Just keep pressing down and the list will scroll down.

At the moment you have a 3.0 Honeycomb based one which to be honest does require a tad more work when jumping from 2.2, hence probably why you're having so much problems with it at the moment. The one you downloaded should be much more stable than your current one, both are Cyanogenmod but the one you downloaded is closer to the original 2.2 stock Hannnspree ROM, so in theory should have better stable drivers.

CWM might be seeing the internal SD card. Plug the tablet into your PC and then select 'Mount USB storage' in CWM and you'll be able to copy it over.

Sometimes if you have to many folders on the sd card the zip file you want may not show up, are there any folders you can delete or save to your computer (music/phots) to try and free some space up.

If your putting the zip file (as a zip file) onto the root directory of the sd card it should show up.

Plugged it into my PC running Windows 7X64..selected 'Mount USB storage' and nothing happens...nothing shows up in My Computer.

Tried it on my sisters PC running Windows Xp Pro 32bit,a drive appears in My Computer but when i click on it,just says insert disk? lol.

Il try deleting some of them folders (if it will let me)

EDIT-Nope,No option showing to delete any files/folders.

The external SD card is blank.

If you go to device manager when you are in CWM do you see anything like 'adb interface' ? (No mounting of USB storage needed)

On the Windows 7 machine,Nothing shows up under USB controllers,Its as if its just not detecting the tablet.

On the Windows XP machine However it does detect something.

under USB controllers the tablets picked up as "Android debug bridge interface"

Right, maybe another idea. Back up everything on the SD card, then format then. Then stick the ROM on and it will be the only thing on it. Then see if CWM can see it?

Already done that mate and i cannot find the rom,All i can see on the cwm is the other files (which i think are on the "Internal" memory,Not on the SD card.

I cant even see in the cwm where to browse files on the "External SD card"?

Hmm, seems like the CWM on your tablet is poorly done if you can't mount it to access the internal memory. The fact it can't read external SD cards is a problem as well!

After quite a bit of searching around,I'm wondering if i need certain drivers or something so my computer can pick the tablet up properly,Like i said the Win 7 pc does nothing when i plug it in,Yet the Windows Xp somehow picks it up but that's about it.

Hannspree website isn't much help,And their cust support will be useless because its not stock anymore. :/

Apologies for the highjack but does anyone know where I can download Adobe Flashplayer to to my phone? I can't find it anywhere on the Android marketplace and I need it for a streaming app i've downloaded.

You've got the ADB drivers installed and working so if you get hold of adb (part of the android sdk) you could push a rom to the internal storage. The other possibility is getting a newer CWM which could hopefully allow you to access the external storage.

Totally new to this,How do i go about doing that? :p

Doing it myself (with a lot of help from others) is the only way i can get this up and running again,Ive asked family/friends if anyone knows anythin about Android or tablets in general and they don't.
