Hi guys,
fallen out of touch with DDR3, looking to put together an AMD x6 workstation, initially with 8GB, but would like the option to upgrade to 16GB. 4x 2gb sticks is very easy to obtain at 1600 speeds, but 2x 4GB sticks would be much better for upgrading.
has anyone got any 4GB modules such as the corsair C9 4GB sticks or the Gskill sticks: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-053-GS&groupid=701&catid=8&subcat=1516 ??
Has anyone managed to OC them? The workstation will be very well cooled and OC'd as high as poss, but how will the memory speed effect the upper limit of the overclock (asus crosshair IV) in my current workstation, the memory speed is soley responsible for holding my OC back - how does this work out on the new AM3 systems? can you lock downt he speed of memory, and hav e the chip fly away as normal?
cheers,
Rick
