Ive just picked up a 5800x and i know they run warm i have an ITX case with glass side panels and a max hight at 75mm on the coolers.
if i stick it in eco mode can it do done? or do i just need to buy an 240mm AIO and cut the case

the cooler i have now but have never used is a Thermalright AXP120-X67 BLACK.
i always just run my 5600 on a 120mm AIO and it gamed at 60~65c...

would the 120mm 45mm think AIO be upto the job?

only ever gaming load, not even stress testing as i dont OC, the CPU will be in Eco or have a curve optimiser off set

Noctua NH-L12S
i was so close to buying this cooler but the Thermalright was half the price so i thought i would give it a go. I've had it a bit now and it still in the box.

@Wing-Man That particular 5800X is good sample.
It never got hot while I used it but it was under an open loop. Think the highest I saw was 76 under all core load. Gaming was low 50s.
you know what it like you hear story's, when the 5700x came out they was all going on about it been so much cooler than the 5800x that's impossible to cool.
but i haven't looked into it in anyway

i been told a good chip will still boost to 4.6Ghz in eco mode under gaming load thats all i was aiming for, but if you can finer me your number over id be happy to try them in my system.

I now have the Noctua 120x15mm fans you recommended as intake fans on two 120mm standard sized radiators with the CPU and GPU custom water cooled. The Thermalright C12015s at 1500RPM cannot compete (also their motor isn't always silent) whereas it's only airflow noise from the Noctua fans. There is an annoying pulsing going on though from both makes of fans due to the tight fit where the are installed but I hope to solve that.
Yer i think i just listed to stories about the chip...

If you are only worried about temperature, a substitution to eco mode is the temperature limiter in bios.
i think this is what i will do. if i set a cap of 80c from what i'm hearing under game load this should never even kick in, i think ive been listing to the wrong people and this chip.

The case I have as 2 glass panels. You can get the same case with 2 vented panels. I was going to buy that and swap one of the panels then sell it.

I vented panel would just fix everything…
I was just looking at different cases last night.

plenty people modding:

I’ve seen things like this but your cooler is epic

I assume silent.

I have no I/o to help cool I worked out I could pass the pipes of and aio out there and just strap it to my desk and nobody would know

I just just started to take the screws out I’m mounting the cooler out side the case.. I know then the system will run silent I will have room for the 2 25mm thick noctua’s I have on the rad in push pull.

Get some pics up, its always good to see this sort of stuff being done

I thought about doing this day one but decided no and sold my 280mm freezer2.

For now I’ve just roughed it up to see if it works ok I will probably change to a 240mm to run fans fixed silently.

Just waiting for the cpu

Very rough just to test when the cpu gets hear, I’d also like to see the difference it makes on gpu temps. With the rad as intake my gpu warmed upon games.

Just an update the 120mm AIO cools this no problem.
at auto CB r23 10min run max temp 89c the cpu didnt throttle once
at eco CB r23 10min run max temp 64c the cpu dropped from 4.55Ghz in the auto run it 4.175Ghz

Gaming is a lot more fun, i cant get the CPU to not boost to 4.775/4.8Ghz
At auto 70c @ 4.775/4.8Ghz
At Eco 65c @ 4.775/4.8Ghz
At Curv optimiser -20 65c @ 4.775/4.8Ghz
At Eco + CO -10 63c @ 4.775/4.8Ghz

sp yer the AIO 120mm is very much upto the job. im waiting for some thermal paste, to try the air cooler.
