I've got all my components ready to go for my new build, but I'm just a bit stuck on the case.
My build is a 12700K, NH-D15S Cooler, 128GB 3600Mhz DDR4 RAM, 2x Gen 4 980 Pros, Asus Z690 TUF Gaming Plus Wifi D4 Mobo, Corsair RM1000x (2021) PSU, GTX 1080ti.
My current machine which I built in 2015 has a Fractal Design Define R5 and I've been very happy with it.
I'd pretty much decided on the black windowless Fractal Design Define 7, but, quite apart from the fact that it seems to be sold out everywhere, I'm just having some doubts after reading some reviews that mentioned it's less than stellar cooling performance. And since the 12700K can get a little hot, this is a concern.
The thing is, I really do need it to be as quiet as possible. Some of my work that I'll be using the machine for is recording voiceovers for audio-description services, so I need it to be suitably quiet for a recording environment.
Some people on other forums reckoned I should get the Meshify 2 instead.
They said that even though it's an 'airflow' case as opposed to 'silent' one, with some judicious fan tweaking I should be able to get it as quiet as the Define 7. But surely that's unlikely, isn't it? Maybe at idle it could reach similar quietness, but for any workload where the fans have to spin up even a little more, surely it's going to get louder. Right?
I keep flipping in my mind between the Define 7 and the Meshify 2, and I'm stuck!
Does anyone have the Meshify 2? Can it be made to be effectively silent?
Does anyone have a Define 7 with a 12700k? Can temps be kept under control?
