Anyone got a dell studio... i need help

a techy from dell came and fitted a new mobo on my studio 1557 but did not bother to connect up the wifi, i have 5 cables and 3 plugs grrrrrrrrrr google not helping either

i connected the 3 loose cables to the matching colours but get nothing, windows says wifi is not turned on

As far as I can tell, it's the three that are wrapped together which you need. The other two are for the WWAN antenna.

From left to right in your pic, it should be WHITE, GREY, BLACK.

However as str said above, if Windows says it's not turned on, that has nothing to do with the antenna and is simply that windows either cannot see the WiFi card, it's disabled in Windows networking, or it's physically switched off.
 
yeah odd, one, as the studio does not have a on off switch on the device. after he left the wifi did not work. tried the drivers and so on. it sees the card but says wifi is turned off. however it is on in the bios. will call the tech as i have his mobile number
 
Has your laptop got a wifi toggle key? For my XPS 17 it's FN+F2 to toggle the wifi on/off.

Same as on my Studio 17, that really annoyed me when I couldn't get my wifi to work only to then realise I'd turned it off...

Guess it makes sense for battery saving, however its not always the first thing you think about when its not working..
