anyone got a E6700 CPU on a ASUS p5w DH board

tbh i dont think many will have the e6700 as its such a painful rip when compared to the e6600 in terms of mhz to price and the fact you can clock the e6600 to e6700 speeds and upwards

I've got E6700 with P5N32-E SLI and have clocked to 3.2ghz. Can easily go more (will go up to 3.6 easy) but I have no need to at the moment. I will wait for more demanding games to be released, Crysis for example. Can give you the stats of the overclock if you request as I have all the exact figures written down and also saved to the OC profile in the Bios.

Mine runs a bit hot, even with added Asus Silent Square Pro CPU cooler, but when under load the temps do not rise by much. I will probably reseat the heatsink at some point, but the hot weather lately isn't helping.

excellent u did hit 3.6 lovely!!

im thinking either to get rid of my board and get p35 but which to get decent clocks from.

the e67000 uses the 10x multiplier right so would that mean an easy overclocker too?

I have an E6700 on a P5WDH board. I havent clocked it higher than 3ghz yet as my graphics card is holding back my games not my cpu. It does the 3ghz at default voltage though with the memory @900mhz. In fact the system is running as I first set it up when turning it on last Oct(maybe I should get of my backside and see what it can do:)).

Their really is no need to get the E6700, its pointless.

when you say your GFX card is holding u back, so this could be the same in my case. I have the 8800GTS prior had a x1900 card and no probs overclocking over 366 now cannot get over this.

Can this be the cause?

nah its not pointless it will overclock 10% higher than an e6600 with simmler stepping

Ok its not pointless, wrong way of putting it. Its unnecessary.

The E6700 most likely will overclock 10% more, but when you start to get to a particular stage of a high overclock, you will most likely have to change your cooling system.

If your after the highest possible clock their is, Air is not going to cut it. If you already have a water cooling setup, yeah why not go for.

What i mean is that the graphics card is already running flat out so there wont be much benefit in me running the cpu faster for games.

hmm i think ill give that a try i have been upto 1.4 but shows on cpu-z 1.37v being used. some vdroop going on if this is the right term.!!

Due to the poor support on this for 1066 i have now ordered a asus p5k deluxe for £142 delivered!! i thik this and some dominators 8500 should be sweet and see what i can do with a e6700 sell it and for the time get a E6320 or the e4300 till the cpu's come out..

I hope this board is better or as good as the new Abit ip-35 PRO !!

You can hit 3.6 on a E6600, have to pump up the volts alittle though. Still safe'ish @ 1.45v I beleive.

Spot on

Temp 43 Idle 65-67 load, its a bit warm but meh, I don't care not like it will hit that in game anyway only when stressing, cooler used is a Tuniq Tower 120. vcore 1.45 after droop, 1.5 in bios. 1.43 when stressing with Orthos

E6600 @ 1.45.

Don't be stupid, that ram is majorly overpriced when some of the PC6400 and even the PC5300 ram clocks to 1066MHz easily!

Ignore what CPU-Z says about voltage, its usually wrong with the newer CPU's. Whatever it says in the BIOS will be right.

what i meant was should run nice on the p35 boards. and got them at £130 is that still bad? friend has them at 3-3-3-4 apparently at 800 sppeds though becos of the limitation of 975 boards they cant run 1066 properly i hear!!
