Anyone got a HP networked printer?

I'm trying to debug and issue with a HP printer (CP3525n) whereby it seems to report offline to clients. A restart usually solves this. I'm not sure if this is related but when I ping it I'm getting very high response times >300ms. Can someone ping a HP printer with a jetdirect card and tell me is this is normal?

Only other thing I can think of is an ip conflict then, any mobiles etc? If you turn the printer off, can you still ping the address?

The ping is also pretty erratic.

I had this problem with an external USB jetdirect card, it was a DHCP issue, but I cannot remember how I sorted it. It only happened when another PC was on, and it seemed to kick the jet direct off the network, despite having different IPs.

Those ping responses look like a bad network cable. Start swapping parts. :)

Do you have a spare JetDirect card? Any chance of trying a different network port?

Also, are users connecting to the printer through a Windows print server?

Is it plugged in via a 4 port hub etc or straight to the wall?

Into a gigabit switch, there is another printer on that switch which doesn't have any issues.

Any new firmware for it?

Yes, updated but no change.

Not the cable. I don't have a spare jet direct card unfortunately. It is going through a print server but it does the same on my machine with it set up direct.
