Anyone got a Line6 Toneport yet?

Good advice guys... from what I have seen with Line6 they get good tones quite easily although I am not sure how good they would be at getting weird and interesting tones...

basically I am looking for something to get good guitar tones from - if you compare my entry to Locrians mine sounds poorly recorded, at least the lead guitar does whereas the rest is reasonably recorded...

Locrian uses a POD XT and I am thinking - go Line6... and listening to Ttz it might be a decent idea.
I don't like the idea of attaching it to my comp only to be controlled by the computer and go into my other soundcard, but its probably easier than getting a decent tone out of the software I am using now...

My housemate has one, i tried installing it on my laptop and it messed up my audio programs :D

Any new intallation can do that... I am running it as a standalone unit controlled by the computer and connected analog to my other soundcard (I dont trust it to take over ASIO with cubase)

I dont really get the whole ASIO thing

I have a creative mp3+ external USB soundcard, and it doesn't require ASIO drivers... i get no noticable latency when recording.

Then in the summer i bought a creative live! 24bit USB external (from ocuK)... thinking this card would be better than the mp3+... i got terrible latency, tried various ASIO drivers etc...

In the end i just sent it back to OCUK

Get yourself an M-Audio 2496... ASIO is very useful for latency and effects and such... it is generally used in sequencers such as Cubase
