Hi.

Just installed a car amp and sub. On the amp there is one LED, with "Protection Power" beside it. The light is illuminated blue when the stereo is on. And is off when its not...

Just wondering if this indicates a fault?? Or is just a power indicator? There is nothing in the manual about this.

Thanks in advance!!

I used to have a Mutant amp (glad i got rid of it now!)

Yes both the power and protection light should be on for it to be working properly.
The protection light tells you that is is grounded properly

Not on mine it didn't.

Only time the protection light came on was when the amp overheated.

The protection light doesn't tell you that the amp is grounded :D It tells you that the amp has gone into protection mode and shut itself off.

Well thanks for the replies :)

There is only one light on the amp, and its illuminated blue when the stereo is on.

It doesn't turn off or anything....so its ok then? Just a power light!?

PS: Yeah i'm sure its not the best amp/sub combo, only €150!, but meh! I'll upgrade when i need to ;)

Sure :)

Not that I can afford to buy you a new one though :p

In fact, I've just re-read your first post... You say the LED has "Power Protection" written nearby.

My guess is that it's a dual colour LED. Blue when it's working and red when it's gone into protection mode.

Just a guess...

Based on some amps i've seen in the past i would say you're correct :)

Yeah was thinking that, about the two colours. An explanation in the manual would have been nice though :(

Thanks for the replies guys :)
