anyone got a NetGem freeview box?

Looks good?
what did you think ?

->£49 on amazon LOL RRP .... no usb recording .. little more than latest sky freeview/play/nowtv box ? .... maybe same guts ?
would have (have) a roku 4k at similar price ... same access to internet freeview catch-up and their live services.

It's the 4k model I was looking at, with the recording

I think the interface is good, and like the stuff it does with multi devices but my niggles (and there are a few)

No multi tuners
No Netflix app
No Now TV app
Alexa only, no Google assistant
£149 just for box, no HDD!

Freeview and Freesat boxes are rubbish

Can't see the point in it, any 4K TV offers more apps and if you want to record from Freeview bung a usb drive or portable HDD in a USB socket on the TV.
Granted Freesat on our LG TV is horrendous unplugged that straight away. But reconnected to an Enigma 2 box which is far superior but requires a bit of fiddling to get how you want.

can you typically record one channel and watch another (even on the same mux) though ? how is scheduled recording - reliable ?

if you have slower apps, w/older sony cpu, non-updated apps w/Panasonic, flashing LG oled in native h/w , or want itunes 4k .... an external box maybe needed

Freeview via any TV (other than Sony Android) is horrendous.

why ? I never tried recording from freeview on a Pan tv, but otherwise the picture quality is much better than my humax freeview pvr (because the tv handles sd bitrates better)
I can't search programs on the TV, I can on the humax ... but if I want to find something I look on a tablet/laptop with a proper keyboard
