Has anyone got a samsung laptop, if so can you do me a favour and take a pic of the inside of the power socket on the laptop. My charger end desintergrated and I think it's either left a piece in there or ripped a piece out.

I used to have a samsung laptop untill the charging lead went kaput. I could sometimes get it to charge if i wiggled the lead around but it was intermittent at best. Although I couldn't tell if the fault was within the laptop socket or the cable itself. Eventually purchased a replacement laptop (Dell) and the samsung is in long term storage until we've developed the technology to fix the lead lol. A picture of the socket probably won't help you I reckon. But good luck anyway. :)

It's an r40plus with an unusual spec.

I know the charging lead itself is broken into several pieces. What I don't know is either on of those pieces is from the laptop, or it's left a piece in the laptop.

There's a chance it may have damaged the motherboard. I've had a look at spares and replacing the PSU is around ~£25, labour+parts on repairing the DC socket (which requires the motherboard to be detached and sent in) is £40. If you send the complete laptop that rises to £100. So you're looking at a minimum of £70 to fix it.

cheers guys sent some emails out.

Any idea how I remove the cd drive?

Got most of the other parts out. But can't budge the cd drive and there's a screw behind it for the cover.

haven't seen this particular laptop so don't know what to tell you and the pics on google don't help, have a close look at the edges of the keyboard for any small clips that hold it down

Right removed the case enough to get the part number of the jack. £14 for both the jack and a new charger :) (jack from uk and 1st class, charger from hongkong 6-8 days :( ). Now I just need to figure out how to remove the rest so I can solder the new one in hopefully on Saturday. Maybe Monday.

Make sure the charger is kosher.

I think there was a problem with some chargers blowing up or something...
