?? 400 miles.. no way... surely 4K miles.. 400 miles would be it's first service interval, but then they widen right out..

And assuming 4K miles, and I was changing oil frequently, I'd look around for much cheaper but still decent oil.. Mobil 1 for £50 seems way OTT.. what spec is it?

[edit] Blagger, worst 'look at my new bike' thread evar :D

6K miles between oil changes. (excluding it's first service)..

:D

cheers for that link demon, ill be checking that with my grease monkey friend!

Janesy B, u really think id check to see if a bike needs an oil change every 500 miles? lol, servicing is overated and overpriced, unless its a new car/bike. I paid 1500 for my bike, 200 for a service with no parts would be a waste of money dont you think? although it would be good to have it checked over by triumph themselves.

I feel very sorry for any vehicle you own.

The TT600 is a bargain really, can get very good bikes for surprisingly little mileage. Just the dubious styling and dodgy fueling at low RPM that put most off. EDIT: seems a lot of fueling issues were fixed on the Speed Four - shame they didn't remove the missile launchers as well :D

it is overrated, your paying someone £30+ every hour for something (most things) you can probably do by yourself.

If you got money to burn, fair enough, but cleaning parts, checking wear and tear, oiling and cleaning ect isnt that a lot to pay?? id rather spend it on parts... or going out.

I agree, paying someone to do servicing is expensive, which is why I do it myself. Servicing itself however is not "overrated" in the sense of overestimating the merits of it. It's an essential part of bike/car ownership if you want your vehicle to last.

if you want your vehicle to last.
And your body.. A mechanical failure on a motorcycle can really hurt

slim01 here's some resized, if you edit your post with the photos and delete the image tags all will be good

I have an 06 Speed Four with about 30k miles on the clock. Had my 24k service done at about 26.5k miles. 400 miles means you've just read it wrong, it is, as others have said, recommended that you change oil at 6k (and other things). I've got a useful 'maintenance checklist' of things to do at certain mileages, drop me an email if you want it or just Google it. "SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE CHECK SHEET - Speed Four & TT600"

Oh and enjoy the bike, it's awesome! :)
