I'm trying to find the "recipie" for Saab paint code 185 - Golden Yellow so I can get some mixed up (it's too old for some places to still have the details :().

Lovely colour it is:

The poor thing needs a bit of welding, so I want to get some paint ready.

On the door sill should be a sticker or metal label of some description which will have the paint code. Any decent body/panel shop/painter should be fine going with that :) That's all that happened when I got my Saab sprayed up.

LOL :)

I already know the code - 185. But the couple of places I've tried didn't have the right info (it was only used for 1 year, can't think why :D).

That pic does show it "lowered" - 25 year old springs. It has new ones on the rear now, and will have new ones on the front when I get around to it.

p.s. here's what a properly lowered one looks like:

If you can take a panel down (like the bootlid) there they should be able to mix up the same colour.

Good lad!

Dude, whereabouts are you based? :) your in the South East, same as me aren't you?

Give this guy a ring - His name is Watmough - Phone Number: 01708 521963

Based in Rainham, he does any/all of my paintwork and it's always spot on. I'd be willing to bet that if you took it down there he would look at the code and from his eye mix you a batch and it'd be perfect.

Rainham is a bit of a pain to get to, but at least it's the same county :)

Can he do cellulose paints? A lot of places have run out of the ingredients now :( And can he put it in rattle cans?

Indeed! :) I've had to travel further for bits before :p Birmingham anyone?

I wouldn't know, your best bet is to ring him, won't cost you anything :) Bear in mind he's kinda hard to understand due to his very thick Southern Essex accent :p

Let us know!

As long as you find a person who knows what hes doing, all halfords out of town store can mix paint and put in cans if required.

Halfords was one of the places I tried - they only go back to about 1990.

Got some now :) Found a place that had the old charts :)
