Heya!

Always been partial to a bit of the old fly-tipping so might indulge this weekend... Would be great if people could post some hints and tips etc. FYI I am in the 'north east' region.

Toodle pip!

It's easier to fly tip than go to the local tip here. If I want to get rid of any old paint, I have to send an email, print some forms, wait for an appointment, and go to a specific tip at a certain time on a Thursday to get rid of it. I'm sure most people would just dump it in a hedge. :(

I just shove it in the wheely bin saves hassle!

HWRCs round here are pretty good, open long hours 7 days a week you just rock up and put your stuff in the correct skip. Cars only though but they have started charging recently for certain builders waste probably to combat the cowboy tradesmen trying to dump for free.

Only problem is if you have a large bulky item that you can't take to the HWRC yourself, you can pay the council to collect it. Only problem is they charge extortionate price and can take a month to collect while the whole time you got a rotten couch sitting outside your door. This just encourages fly tipping.

I had a fridge-freezer that I paid Southwark Council £16 to remove, I got it to the integral garage on the ground floor of my house, then on the morning of removal date, I "walked" it out to the drive, simple really.
While I appreciate that maybe you had nowhere to store your couch, that doesn't make fly-tipping okay, or encourage it.

North East you say, no surprise there then.

Most ignorant selfish prats perhaps, there goes the neighbourhood.

Not my couch, but it is a scenario.
