Looking for a laptop as need a bit of portability and thinking along the lines of the HP dv9689ea
Anyone got one of these? Or something similar? Spend quite a bit of time in France so would be nice to be able to play my HD DVDs over there on a big HDTV without having to have a stand alone player, yet can watch films or play games (or work even!) at a decent size on the move.

Don't mind spending in the region of £1000 - £1200.

Was even thinking about dual booting a MacBook Pro, but they seem to get quite pricey at that screen size.

Think you're probably right, 15.4" it is. The 17" seem massive. At the end of the day, I'm not planning on playing lots of games so it's hardly important to have a big screen I suppose.

With regards to the Dells, is there anything particularly good about them or is it just a case of reliability? Seems by the time all the boxes are ticked, you've whacked a huge amount of extra price on the starting price, things that seem to come as standard for less with other models.
