Hey everyone,

Just after your experience really so not after medical advice or anything.

I've had psoriasis since I was little but it dissapeared a good 10 years or so ago. However huge stress over the past year has made it come back with an absolute vengeance and I'm covered from head to foot in it.

I've been given all the creams and potions over the last year to try and combat it. Getting to the point where the steroids are so strong they are burning my skin, however nothing's working and it's getting worse and worse.

Ive heard about light treatment and how it has hugely helped people with the condition so was just wondering if it had helped any of you lot out or if you've found something else that works?

Cheers everyone :D

I don't have this but absolutely feel for you, my brother has had it for the last year and it is the bane of his life. Hugely knocking his confidence.

Im not sure how much help this would be but there was a very interesting conversation on Radio 2 earlier today regarding the use of goats milk.

Apparently it's properties mixed with other oils and herbs has the ability to decrease the affects of inherited or genetic conditions.

The link is below but my last comment is that hthee university of Aberdeen (i think) has confirmed the findings and are working with the medical industry to develop this further.

Think this is treading on the medical thread line but spend more time outdoors and you may well notice an improvement. Like light therapy but more fun.

Thanks snips I'll definitely have a look into it :)

But yeah it's not nice. As mentioned I'm just after people's experiances.

The plan is definitely to enjoy the sun this year and to get out the house. It's just so frustrating how nothing seems to work.

your probably right though in it straddling the line so removed the last paragraph.

I have this in my scalp but at present luckily (I think)

I have a top class topical steroid that does the job but seems like you're beyond that.

Sorry can't help but really feel for you and will be following this if it doesn't get locked

My friend suffers awfully with it, he's on light therapy in France.

He has had some success by cutting wheat and gluten from his diet.

I've used sun bed type light treatment,u mean that? It didn't have much affect, sunbatheing in real sunshine works wonders though

I didn't think stress bought it out more? I just thought its the skin cells reproducing more than usual and causing the flaking skin?

I went in hospital as a kid with mine, weeks of creams got rid of it all,as an adult I only have one small patch on my leg and a few bits in my hair

Polytar shampoo is good provided you can get hold of some, daily non perfumed moisturiser helps as well

I'm surprised no one has suggested mustard yet!

Seriously though, it's unpleasant and I hope you get some control over it. Phototherapy is offered to some patients, but I'm not clear on the indications. Off to the dermatologist with you!

I have it bad on my head and in my ears but also on other parts of my body.

Now here's the miracle.
I had it bad on my right knee and regularly gave it a coat of Dovobet (my magic potion) but a few weeks ago I had a bad accident on my bike, scraped it all off and it hasn't come back.

My mum has it, or at least had. She doesn't seem to have had any bother from it for the last few years, but she would use sunbeds to clear it up, and it worked. Any time she had a flare up, a quick sunbed session would clear it up.

Yeah that's what I mean. :) shame it didn't work for you though.

But yeah stress is meant to be a huge factor in it which makes sense given how I've felt the past year. I don't know whether it's an immune response to it but it's well reported.

I've used polytar in the past but didn't find it effective so now use alphosyl shampoo and a prescribed moisturiser called doublebase along with the steroids such as dovabet but still can't get on top of it.

Ooooh jolly good, book me in for a good skinning/flaying as that's what I need haha ;)

On a serious note though I hope your okay after the accident Dimple.

The sad thing is I've probably scraped it so many times off itching I'm likely scarred all over now.

I read about one guy who had his mercury fillings removed and it cleared ups his psoriasis. I have eczema behins my ears that has gotten worse this past year and nothing helping it. I still want to get my mercury filling removed. If you goto youtube and search mercury filling vapor, it shows the mercury dust coming off old fillings and thw heavy metal leads to rash. But not everyone gets it.

I used to suffer badly from this, I started exercising regularly (outside), cut back my drinking and tried to keep my stress levels down. No promises but you could try that and see if it helps, it does seem that people's triggers vary (and some will have it without any triggers).

Mine has basically cleared up now, I sometimes get a dry scalp but nothing even close to the angry red itchy mess it used to be.

Good luck, it's a horrible thing to have.

Mine is pretty much scalp and eyewbrows. Have had a couple of other patches but cleared. I can pin point the specific stress that triggered it around 3 years ago. Mine is pretty much under control at mo

Not the same, but I suffered with really bad Eczema for years when I was younger, and it still occurs very rarely on my arms. Pain in the *** and itches like **** when it does though.

Hope your psoriasis gets better soon, itching like mad is so irritating :(

I know you said you've tried all sorts of lotions, so i'm pretty sure they will have already been tried but E45 and calamine lotions really helped me with itching.
