Anyone got some Wii channel ideas?

I noticed that there are loads of slot just waiting to be filled with extra Wii channles and was wondering if anyone had any good ideas of things they would like to see?

I would start by popping up an idea myself but I can't actually think of one right now, which is why I'm throwing it out there for debate to see what comes back ;)

wouldn't that take extra hardware in both instances though?

I was thinking more along the lines of what nintendo could possibly be plannning to fill all of those channel slots with?

Like what? You can shove SD cards in there and it already has a DVD drive. :confused:

And like whathisname says, the spaces are for VC games and possibly originally developed downloadable games.
 
Dedicated web channels? for example YouTube, I know this can be accessed via the standard web browser but maybe a channel that provides a better interface to it.

No, shouldn't be a problem for the drive.

But for it to have DVD support they would have to pay a royalty to license it. That's why there was the original idea of having a plug in dongle to enable it for the Wii - so you could buy it if you needed it, but if not then you wouldn't need to still pay to cover it. (Exactly like how on the original XBOX you needed to buy the DVD remote to enable DVD playback)

I'm sure sometime it may be offered as a downloadable channel, costing a few quid in Wii points...
 
I wonder what would happen if you bought too many VC games and ran out of channel spaces? Because not every game is the same size, so if you only downloaded the smaller NES games, it could be possible.
 
An RSS feed channel would be cool Since surfing the web is quite frankly awful on the Wii cos it's SD

Didn't realise they were for VC games as I have not downloaded any yet... makes sense now.

Still be interesting to think of other channels like the weather and news etc, I like the idea of RSS feeds.
 
I'd like to see:

  • The news channel should incorporate RSS feeds IMO.
  • Stackable VC games (by genre, by series, by console) to save space
  • Media Centre/DVD channel to allow proper MP3, CD and video playback. Prog. scan DVDs would be nice too. (Though the Wii will have it's limitations with DVD playback)
  • A DS channel, for demos, additional content (like stuff for Animal Crossing, secret Pokemon etc)

I don't think I've thought of anything extra that others haven't tbh.

I've managed to fill my first screen now, and if I could afford it there'd be a lot more channels taken up with VC games (F-Zero, Altered Beast, Gunstar Heroes, Super Mario Bros., Sonic, Mario 64...)

You've got some great ideas there actually!

What VC games do you recommend? So far I've only purchased MK64.

I'm enjoying SFII, even knowing it's comparitively crappiness, purely on nostalgia and the fact I used to own on it lol.

I'm also enjoying Super Probotector, although it's damn hard! Fantastic in co-op, and again it's a very nostalgic game. Can't beat a good, rock-hard side-scroller!

I've got Super Castlevania and Bomberman '93 too. Not played SC much really, but bought it because it's a game you're told you should play, but I never owned or played it on the SNES. Bomberman sorta explains it's self, although I don't play it often as I batter the missus on it and she has a paddy lol. She's better at the DS version. Oh, and it's 5 player :D

Couldn't resist Mario Kart today either :D
 
Oooh just had a thought... how about a streaming music channel which learns your music tatses a bit like Yahoo Launchcast.

You can stream music via the internet channel from your PC using Orb. It takes your PC's music and streams it to your Wii.
