HI guys

Just moved house and found out that the house I have moved into is connected to an exchange some 6 miles away via a TPON link, although there is an ADSL Max enabled exchange available to me until a mile away.

An openreach engineer has told me that I need the line moving from the central exchange to the local one, and there is copper in place in the green cabinet at the bottom of my drive. He also told me he has connected several people on the estate this way in recent months.Sadly all attempts to archive this through BT have failed as they say I can only have a line on the Doncaster Exchange and there is no flexibility in there system to change this.

Anyone got any advice on a way to contact BT and get this solved, otherwise It looks like im going to be selling my house as I need BB access for my work.

3g and the mobile networks are not an option in my area as were in a somewhat of a mobile phone black hole.

What part of BT are you talking to about this - voice service or broadband?
Any ISP should be able to get answers from BT about getting rid of TPON, or failing that local councillors/MPs, or perhaps someone like Andrew (MrSaffron) from ADSLguide/ThinkBroadband can get some information.

HI mate

Ta for the reply.

Tried BT openreach, wholesale and retail none and the service provider I was planning to use (Vodaphone) all to no avail.

Ill try Thinkbroadband.

Ta again

TPON is bad. It ain't like DACS or whatever where they can simply remove it, you likely have a half fibre, half aluminum line. :(

As Tolien said ADSL Mr Saffron on ADSL guide is your best bet.

Ta for that again.

Thinkbroadband has been useful so far and I have emailed and had a reply from Ben Verwaayen (CEO of BT) regarding my issue so least something might get done now.

Problem I have is that an openreach engineer has told me there is copper to the local exchange in the green box not 15ft from my front door.

Its just getting BT to raise an order thats the problem.
