Hi,

Has anybody had any luck with ESXi on a Gigabyte P35-DS4?

It boots the disc, but after I go to install it'll just bring up a load of random unhelpful errors.

Unfortunately the motherboard isn't in the compatibility list, but I'm hoping someone has tried & had some luck!

Thanks.

Any more details on your spec you are trying to use?

Onboard Sata or raid controller?

What network cards have you got in the machine?

i'm running without any issues on a g33m-ds2r. other than your north bridge chipset being p35 and mine being g33 the rest of the board is quite similar. i think yours also supports slightly faster memory. due to esxi being a teeny bit fussy about what you install it on, i went into the bios and used the 'load fail-safe defaults' and then went and turned off everything else i wasn't going to be using - i.e. usb, firewire, sound, nic, dialled the graphics down to the bare minimum etc. also try changing the disk controller to just 'sata' rather than 'raid' as it will only allow us to use independent disks. the nic on this board wont work either, you'll need to buy yourself a compatible one - i would recommend the intel pro/1000 gt desktop adaptor, i've used several of these without issue. good luck! :)

Specs: Gigabyte P35-DS4, 4x 2GB OCZ 8500, Q9550, a few standard HDs

Everything is on-board - SATA controller, network, etc.

I've tried installing it without firewire, network, sound etc. but am still getting the same problem.

Unfortunately simply disabling the on-board network card doesn't help. I'm going to go for the full reset & disable everything on-board this weekend and see what happens!
