Anyone had the snip?

Do they actually test your man goo for sperm after this to make sure it worked? What if the tube was still connected and you ended up making a baby...and do they test it one year later in case the tubes grow together again? I heard there is a chance they will connect up again.

Yes they do. I had to submit 2 tests (a week apart), 2 weeks after the op. Came back negative for swimmers.

And yes, there is a tiny chance of the tubes reconnecting, but, in my case, about 2cm of each tube was removed, and all 4 "ends" cauterized. Chances of a swimmer getting through are incredibly tiny.

55 minutes to go.... I've been told that they will test me twice. It is best to wait for 30 ejaculations (my joke of "a whole week then" fell on deaf ears) and preferably 16 weeks - which seems a very long period.

You get turned on by some weird things...

Are there any potential complications of this surgery? Googles not showing much.

There's a small chance it can leave you with "pain down there" but less so with modern keyhole methods. I've been fine. Infections at the cut site are common if you return to "exercise" to quickly or don't keep the area clean - but it's easily treated like any other wound infection.

There's a small chance (0.05%) of the tubes re-connecting (recanalisation - the sperm find a way from the testes and cut tubes to enter the ejaculate) leaving you with a possible suprise and your wife having some explaining to do!

No statistically significant complications with loss of sex drive (in fact quite the opposite as there isn't that mental "we might make a baby" issue), performance oo quantity (if you get my drift).

Quick question for those men that have had the snip. Would you say that you've felt all the benefits of what is usually stated in the 'no fap' world? Increased confidence, more enegy, reduced dark circles around eyes and any other benefit that is usually described with no fap?

I'm seriously seriously thinking of going ahead. Already have 3 kids and the thought of another terrifies the hell out of me.

Just had this procedure done on Thursday. I was expecting it too be painless throughout the op itself, but I hit the roof half way through. The surgeon stopped and applied more aesthetic and apologised up in recovery. Not a walk in the park. Very tender and only off the pain killers today.

Definitely worth the end result though, so don't let this put anyone off!

I tore my frenulum (banjo string) when I was younger, the scar tissue made it too rigid so it repeatedly tore. I had it removed under local, but they had to jab a needle in the end of my penis (under side). It has thoroughly put me off any surgery down there for life!

Luckily, my girlfriend has really good side effects from the pill so wouldn't want to stop taking it.

lol at some of these stories.
When we had a consultation on the pregnancy of our 3rd daughter, the subject of sterilisation was raised. The fat ugly biffer consultant looked at me and said "well?" in a very judgemental way. I replied that it wasn't me getting it done. Our reasoning that since the first two children were born by cesaerean, our third would be no different and that while already on the table it would be reasonable to tie the tubes for my wife. I work, drove a fair bit at the time and being the main income, couldn't afford complications. Job done.
BTW women are generally sterilised via tube ligation not given hystorectomies. ffs they are two hugely different ops, the second being quite a more involving procedure where ligation can be outpatient similar to a vasectomy.
On the plus side, my plums are still intact and my missus had no related side effects.

Had it done years ago:

General anaesthetic, 3 days in hospital, developed a secondary infection a few days later, scrotum resembled a haggis in colour and size. I wanted to keep the swelling but take away the pain - that wasn't possible.

I actually had a haggis in the deep freeze and couldn't face eating it in the end gave to my Scottish neighbours, I omitted to tell them why I wouldn't be eating it.

One thing that would weigh on my mind would be the complications that can arise. I've read in the past of men becoming impotent or being left with constant pain.
