Anyone had the snip?

They put the needle into the balls themselves?!!!!! Did you get it done at Lidl?

With mine they injected the outer bit of the sack, hardly any pain, small incision then tubes cut and sealed, no pain.
Sounds like you also had the No needle, No anaesthetic method like me then.

Seriously guys if anyone is considering this then look for this method!! It was a breeze, no pain, no ice packs, no general anaesthetic, no John Wayne walks and no injection into your testicles!!!:eek:

For those who have had, or are considering, what age are/were you?

I'm 33 with 3 kids and thinking about getting it done fairly soon.

I'm quite keen on the no-scalpel version, but that doesn't seem to have arrived in Scotland yet so far as I can tell.

I had mine done about 5 yrs ago (in the USA not that that probably matters). They did put the needle in my testicle and for that one or two seconds before the antiseptic kicked in, it was on a pain threshold of 1 to 10.....at 100 !!!!!!! Never ever felt more pain in my life.. BUT it did only last one or two secs. Then its just a case of laying back and watching the plume of smoke as they snip and burn.

I had a slight infection afterwards and suffered for about a week or so. Nothing major, just unable to cycle or 'not' walk like a cowboy.

I would say my sex drive is / was probably down 10%, but that could be just me getting older too. The doc did say there 'could' be a slight loss of drive.. The 'ahem' comes from the prostate anyway not the actual nuts. There's definitely less of it since the op but it looks more or less the same.

It would be unfair to have put the missus thru the woman ver, as a man snip takes only 30mins out of your day and is by far less recovery.

If you ever wanted to revert, there would only be a 50/50 that it would be successful. So look at this as a permanent op.

30 with 2 children.

no scalpel ball chop not local to me either.

Having not had it done I'm unsure if it's standard practise/included but since the chance of getting it reversed is 50/50 would it be worth having sperm frozen before having it done? I know sperm freezing isn't 100% but it adds another backup.

Plan for worst hope for best.

The No Scalpel Method cost me £300 and was a drive down to a doctors surgery in Hampton Court, Surrey for the procedure. Whereas my brother who lives near Esher would have got this free at the same place!

They basically blast a special high pressure anaesthetic at a section of the upper part of the sack for a split second. It literally feels like someone giving it a quick firm flick and then that's it. You get the option of saying hi to your tubes if you want to take a look, but I decided I would prefer to keep staring at the ceiling. 30 mins later job done and no pain :)

Peoples' experiences sound so much worse than it's billed.(much like giving blood, actually, which was a terrible experience when I did it, despite expecting it to be a walk in the park)

I've 2 children, and am not keen on more. Can envisage circumstances under which I may want more though.

I'm not have the snip, though. I'm just too scared.

For me with 3 kids aged 9,5 and 1, I was way more scared of having any more and a wife who I know would never consider any type of abortion.

The feeling once I knew it was done was fantastic, best £300 I have ever and will ever spend. Don't get me wrong, I love my kids, but its bloody hard work sometimes and they are not cheap!

I enjoy my life as it is and also enjoy being able to have sex without any thought of contraception or conceiving. Win, win all day long!

30, with one 3 year old. Relationship with the mother has broken down and have no intention of going off and starting another family. Don't want the little man to feel like I'm trying to replace him :)

I am nearly 43 and was 29 with 3 kids when I had It done.

If there's the slightest chance of wanting future children then getting the snip is not a good idea.
