Anyone had the snip?

This thread makes me glad I'm gay. If I get anyone pregnant or get pregnant myself I'll be rich! :D

My sister's partner had it done and apparently the doctor caught a vein and started spraying blood everywhere. He didn't feel a thing and no damage done, but must have been unsettling to say the least. They've had four kids and wanted no more.

If I were 100% certain on not having children I'd rather do this than rely on contraception... I have been with a woman before and there was always a nagging worry in the back of my mind that she might get pregnant, even on the pill.

Exactly, the last thing you want to do is meet someone and say "I want to be with you for the rest of my life, so I'm off for a vasectomy" :D

I was in the position of being single after having 4 kids, def didn't want any more, so I got it done.
Met my now wife a few years later, we were still young enough to have kids, but we didn't have to have that conversation.

Part of me wishes we had had a kid, but then we'd have a 7 year old now instead of our youngest one being nearly 17.

I'm in same boat.
If the pill was not an option this would be a servere but appropriate course of action
 
In the future maybe they can install a valve that can be turned on/off rather than cutting the tube entirely?

I rember reading somewhere, much safer to unload the gun than to wear a bullet proof vest :P

I feel all of the pain in here and Google only make's it worse.

Durex have some new stuff out that's worth a play and 99% of us that are thinking of having this stopping to grab some protection isn't a big deal like it was back when we were 20 say.

It's not because protection is hard to come by, or even just because it's nice not to have to use it. If you know you don't want to have children, and are totally sure, it's that worry elminated. Accidents can always happen no matter how careful you are, and it's something you have to commit a huge part of your life to if it does.

Just put a clamp on your sac before getting down to business? Screw it down real tight to make it effective.

No protection is as effective as the snip (2 in 100 failure rate for condoms per year, 1 in 2000 failure rate in a lifetime for the snip). Even the best protection doesn't feel the same. Hormone treatments are out for us now, so it's pretty much condoms or snippage.
 
When i had it done it was in and out of the hospitial in 15 min and i even went shopping with the mrs afterwards, now i call myself a christmas tree as i only have balls for decoration

If you tell your office you had infection complications, I'm sure you could stretch it to a week or two.

You wouldn't even need to have the procedure, because it's not like they're going to examine your balls to check. Not that I condone this sort of thing. ;);)

More than a week would require a fit note, which would require actually having two 8-balls down there.

And if I tried that, I suspect our OH nurse would require an appointment on return to work (in theory, my role includes manual handling which would need risk assessed). With the best of intentions, she is very "diligent" (slightly OTT) and the cover-up could get exposed. And no, she is not hot.
