currently on my 2nd dell 3008
the monitor has been great up until now, but is suffering from a cluster of dead pixels and one very bright stuck pixel in the top corner. now i know this is enough for them to accept RMA on the panel.

so i log into my dell account and check the product code.
i have just under 1 year remaining on the original product but the replacement panel i have now is not showing up as having warranty.

is it worth calling them up about it and discussing what my options are?
i have heard a few 08 owners are being given the 3011 as a replacement now, how realistic is this prospect?

Having had almost a dozen replacements on two 2209wa monitors, half of them were never logged against my account. This caused some extra delay in processing the following RMA, but the representative was eager to help. Too eager for a business imo. I swear they'd give a replacement for an out of warranty monitor just to get good feedback :)

right ok

im obviously concerned as i am in the latter end of my warranty period and the replacement just wont register on the site.

i will give them a call on monday and see if they can help.
i must admit, when my first one was returned, they were superb about dealing with it.

just really posted to see if anyone else had this scenario crop up before really

I always call them, I've had about 3 replacements of Dell monitors in total. Call them up, give them the serial number on the back, and they tell me when they're sending a new one out to swap it with. I've never tried it online, and never will.

I'll have to go through this soon. My 2209wa has weird vein-like shadows running down the entire screen. It's faint, but it's there. Oh the joy :)

Just thought I'd chip in to say, my 3008WFP had a blue cast in the bottom-right corner (I think caused by the blue power LED) and backlight bleed that was only borderline acceptable. I had ~1 year of warranty left so I decided to roll the dice and got a replacement. This isn't my first Dell 30" screen (it's my fifth!), but this is the first time I've had to deal with their Indian call-centre. They had (and still have) the wrong address on their system (not mine, not the retailer, not the wholesaler...go figure...), so for the first 3 phone calls they called me a liar and a thief. I finally managed to get them to authorise a replacement by sheer bloody-mindedness, they wouldn't even accept my invoice as valid and so I've no idea what finally made them buckle. They said I'd receive a 3008WFP, but happily a U3011 turned up instead. First impressions:
+much improved backlight uniformity
+much improved stand and bezel
+better connectivity
+more responsive panel (I don't think I'm deluding myself, but I wouldn't rule it out)
-calibration seemed less accurate out of the box, but looks good after use of a Spyder 2 (I realise this is the opposite of baddass' findings)
