Top of the morning to you,

Got my windforce gtx 780's on Monday and love them, cards run flawlessly and are very fast. Sadly one of them has a sizzling kind of fan noise which comes and goes when the card is under load and the fans are kicking in. It ranges from fairly low to distractingly loud. I have raised it and been given an rma number but wanted to know if anyone has returned a card to ocuk due to something like this and had it replaced successfully?

I am considering returning it under dsr to ensure i can buy a replacement or perhaps i should talk to gigabyte directly? Both cards arrived well packaged in an outer cardboard box but one of the gigabyte windforce boxes had a large dent in it and the inside lid of the box had an imprint of the fans on it where it had taken some pressure at some point. This box contained the card with the issue. Fan problems like this only tend to get worse so think i will have to rma it. With the fan issue being intermittent im concerned i could end up stuck with it.

I bought the windforce specifically due to the great cooling and quietness of the card. Just found out it has now been sorted, replacement authorized..that is why i shop here..service like that.

Change the fan to an accellero?

Why should he have to?

His bought a WF3 model for a reason and not to replace the cooler and also void warranty in doing so.

OP - if it's a fan problem, plus the damage you mentioned. Just continue with the RMA :)

Sounds like the heatsink/shroud is pressing against the fans when spinning. I'd return it under DSR and get a new one. Saves the hassle of RMA and will give you additional 7 days (14 for OCUK) to return it if there are any other issues).

Edit: Nvm just noticed your post above! Glad it's sorted.

DSR'ing something faulty is kinda harsh as it means someone else will end up with the same card, will it not?

Do you speak from experience? I would imagine that any item that is returned via DSR is checked.

I seriously hope that any item returned under DSR is not sold as new unless unopened.

I have seen people discussing dsr on here to avoid the rma procedure and it really would have to be a last resort for me. Intermittent problems like this can be a nightmare and from experience with other retailers often problems can be missed under inspection. Dsr would ensure the problem would be resolved by buying another card but it is unfair on the retailer and any future purchaser of the card. As it turns out, ocuk sorted this out straight away without any fuss. Thats why i love shopping here. I have never returned anything to ocuk hence i was curious what the outcome may have been, i needn't have worried though. Outstanding customer service to the rescue.
