Anyone have a clue as to why this is happening? Installed w10 now no signal to monitors one bit.

Been a long time I havent been able to sort a PC problem myself but I'm stumped and at my wits end with this damn PC.

Yesterday I installed windows 10, fresh install then activated it. No issues whatsoever for a few hours. Then something funny happened when I had to restart (installations etc)... You know when an overclock fails and your pc fails to reach bios and the restarts and so forth. I couldnt get it to start up, one or two restarts later and she fires up running fine again. To be sure id get a clean startup next time I set my bios settings to default as I had my RAM clocked.

Now as standard windows has always put PCs into sleep mode or something if you havent changed it in the settings. My PC is generally on 24/7, but i hadnt changed that setting on windows so when I climbed into bed about 20 minutes later the pc shuts down. No worries I knew I hadnt changed that setting, but I knew I'd have a damn nightmare starting it up in the morning because of the previous funny booting issue, and I was right.

I pretty much have a dead pc, she boots up fine but I get no signal to the monitors at all. Ive tried resetting the bios, reseating the card, spamming DEL on startup to try and get into the bios all to no avail. The keyboard and mouse light up but no joy. I even left it 5 minutes or so to see if id hear the windows start up through my speakers but nothing. I literally get no signal at all.

I havent got a spare card to check if it is the graphics card (i highly doubt it) but ill test it in a friends pc when i get a chance. I cant use onboard because the chip is a 3930k.

Something to note: it is definitely not getting to Windows. I know this because the pc shuts off immediately as i press the button, I dont have to hold it. I tried to see if removing my second hard drive would work and nope. I also tried spamming f12 for boot option then down and enter and nope.

Clueless and infuriated at the moment. Microsoft what the eff...

Nothing at all, nada.

If its the card I will be seriously surprised. I knows it all pointing that way but I'm positive my card will work in another PC

Have you tried a bios reset? Different cables, check nothing's loose all those basics. Try a reseat of ram and your gpu.

I mean there isn't much else you can do really other than the above. You need to test with other hardware. It you're not seeing bios I don't see how it can be much else than a hardware issue.

Tried it all but testing my card in another pc. If its dead ill be very surprised as it has shown no signs of impending death, it hasnt been stressed hard at all really.

When you couldn't get your PC to boot because of the symptoms like a faulty overclock was it just shutting down? Some BIOSs actually say they can't boot and settings are restored to default.

If the PC was just reboot cycling and now you're getting a black screen I'd be looking at either a faulty PSU or a fault motherboard. Any chance of trying another PSU?

Also, any diagnostic LEDs on your motherboard to see what the POST is doing?

What board is it gigabyte? Do a long CMOS. Battery out

It is a gigabyte board, had the battery out and off at the mains for about 2-3 hours and still no joy. Will be able to test the card in another PC tomorrow.

Its looking like its the gpu but im disbelieving that until proven otherwise. The psu is a corsair ax1200i and is overkill for my system at the moment I cant see it being that.

Pulseammo - it cycled a few times like a faulty oc does however I turned it off and tried again, it doesnt do that now, pc seems to be running/hanging after bios. Doesnt turn off but does immediately when I hit the button which makes me thing bios/post hang.

Try overnight battery out, gigabyte boards are funny, also helps to have same BIOS on both BIOS chips

Tested with dvi, display port,HDMI if you have them

I will do. I tested both DVI ports and have a 4k monitor which uses displayport, tried both monitors separately too, Blame :(

Nada. Doesnt even startup by the power on button now. Shorting the pins starts it up but nothing again. Stuff this ****

Well my current set up has been a mess for quite some time, the PSU is outside because it doesn't fit inside with my bottom rad placement for my CPU look. I've been holding out for pascal before spending more money and waiting til then to do a total overhaul, but now my cards blown out I think a 980 & a block is in order and finally sort out my watercooling loop.

Just tried a working card in my system and I still got no signal. So its pointing towards the psu/mobo now. Still strange that my card failed in another system then... nightmare. Will test the psu at a friends tomorrow and send my card off for RMA.

Edit. Gonna do a simple paperclip test ...edit2- she fires up my waterloop and fans... as it doesnt start up with the case switch does this mean my mobo is the culprit?
edit 3 - disconnected everything apart from 24pin, 8 pin and watercooling molex. Still does not power up through the case switch but will run if I short the mobo pins... Finding it hard to think that my mobo AND gpu both cut out on the same magical night.

Psu powers my friends system absolutely fine. Starts up by the case. Retested my card in his system and nothing.

Pointing towards mobo and card. My card is under warranty so ill ring that supplier now and the I'll get myself a new motherboard. What a nightmare :(
