What do you use it for?

I’m toying with the idea but only if it has applications outside streaming, in other workflows.

I have a mini one, Use it for monitoring Memory, CPU usage, and CPU temp. Also for shortcuts in games. It has many uses outside of streaming. I wouldn't be without it.

How do you create a shortcut in specific apps/games?

Let's say, I want to make it a 1 button shortcut to Export a photo, in a specific file size and pixels. A "shortcut" is already created inside Lightroom. But I need to right click on a photo, select Export and then select the NAMED action I just created.

The stream deck just simulates key press's, system commands, text inputs, and more. If you already have a shortcut created within light room than all you need to do is record the short cuts key press in the Stream Deck UI and assign a button. Then every time you press the button it will execute the shortcut.
Edit: Its not app specific

I was looking at these just for abit if fun, can you have a Soundboard added to it, I'd just use it to mess around on discord with friends whilst in game

Then that is useful, then I can press 1 button to export a photo I am already selected, knowing it will be that exact size.

Are the all powered by USB?

I love my Stream Deck, I use it for media controls, have stock and crypto tickers on display on the desktop and then it works as a custom button box in loads of different games.

You can set it up for shortcuts to improve your workflow.

All are usb powered, I have the XL

Does it auto switch the buttons depending what app/game you are using?

One of the buttons I will 100% make is a media Play/Pause, obviously sometimes I would be listening to music, or even watch youtube but not on the youtube page but on a different browser even. So I want Play/Pause for that.

But if I am playing a game and want all the buttons now to show the game meaning Play/Pause won't be required. Does it auto switch for the game?

Yes, you set up different profiles and when you launch that game it launches the profile associated with it.

You can use it on a mobile phone for free, six buttons to use, I have one to open SIM hub, one to open OBS another to start stop recording, the other three do sounds in discord because I'm lame :D

I have the Stream Deck XL and use it for App shortcuts, text input (email addresses etc), audio volume and switching, room temperature monitoring, room lighting/fan control, system monitoring via HWiNFO64, monitor controls, Logitech battery meters, and more. There's tons of plug-ins to do all sorts of things. Wouldn't be without mine.

I have one of the oroginal 15 button stream decks, I mostly use it to control AMD adrenaline functions like screenshot, gif, recording, overlay, fps visual toggles.

It is one of the older ones though so a little more limited on functionality.

I use mine for sim racing, but also have it hooked up to Home Assistant so I can control lights and aircon etc while racing.
