so, our 15 year old Chamberlain Motorlift 5000 died last week for our up and over Garage door, it had a good run, did zero maintenance on it (it was chain driven)

Had it replaced yesterday with a Garador GaraMatic 10 and wow, this thing is great, whisper quiet compared to the very noisy Chamberlain and has soft close open feature, its a revelation.

I know things like these are a luxury but was kinda annoying having to get out of the car each to manually open the garage door :p

Garador GaraMatic gets my recommendation, Germany quality, 5 year warranty, same company as Hormann I believe.

You keep your car in the garage?! What is this madness you speak off?! Not a single house in my street has their car in their garage.

oh yes, its heaven in the Winter too, no ice on screens - i would defo recommend it you get chance in life

An electric garage door opener isn't a luxury - They cost less than £200 - people spend that on a night on the town.

I love mine - best thing I have fitted. - Just wish I could afford gates for drive - got duct in for power if ever I can afford it.

Yep! Got a electric gate too. I did briefly look into getting the keys suited but they are different frequencies and one of them is on rolling codes and couldn't work what I needed or if it was possible.

The previous owner of our house had twin up & over doors replaced with a single sectional door and motor - still not bored of watching it go up & down (must get out more) :D

love ours - double garage with space for 2 modern cars - only slight downside is its not attached to the house so you've got to run through the rain occasionally :(

Use our garage every night for the hatchback. Fantastic in the winter. It's not long enough for anything bigger though, so if we ever don't have a short car, we'll extend the sitting room into it.

It's a double garage so I store all my tools etc in there and use it as a workshop, which is great.

We've got an electric opener but it needs replacing soon, so recommendation noted; thanks op.

I did have the door replaced about 18 month's ago and this new door has auto locks at bottom of each side - those I am impressed with - What it means is no one can grab bottom corner of door and pull it out - Mate had double door with just the opener holding it shut - he was lucky when gyppos came - they took everything that could be moved outside but didn't try the door corners.
