Anyone have any experience with Vauxhall Keys?

Hi, I've got a basically knackered key fob for my car. Anyone who has ever dealt with the old Vauxhall keys will know the problem, the battery holder has disconnected from the main PCB. I've re-soldered the connections, checked my solders 20 times but it just won't work. When I press the buttons, the light flickers instead of being solid, and it only actually unlocks the car about 1/3rd of the time.

So, my questions. First, anyone have any idea what's going on and how I could fix it? Also, I have seen a few websites offering key fob fixing for around £20, anyone have any experience with these services?

And worst case, anyone know how much Vauxhall will charge to program a new fob into my car? Or anyone know anywhere to get it done on the cheap? If it's too dear I'm willing to live with using the key in the door, not really a massive problem, but it's just annoying.

Thanks.

Car is Astra G, key is standard 2 button key.

Just go to an auto locksmith and get them to cut and code you a new key and fob.

Sounds like you may have a dodgy connection/solder joint, if you can't fix it buy the same model key fob off ebay, the type you need will be on the back of the fob (outside) and on the pcb.

Buy an opcom clone off ebay for under ~£20, make sure you have the key pass or get it from vauxhall don't know how much but around £20, then swap the new ebay bought pcb/transmitter over into your old case and program it to your car using opcom.

Locksmiths won't be able to cut and code the Astra G keys, well not the few i've come across.

If you wanted a second spare remote key then do the above plus buy a new horseshoe blank key and transponder, opcom will allow you to sync the new blank transponder to the ecu.

When a key fob for my Corsa C broke, I ordered a 2nd hand one of t'bay and used the Opcom clone software to program it to the car. Worked a treat.
