Anyone have different model Powerlines on their network?

I'm asking as the one's I currently have came as a pack of 2 and I am looking for 1 more to have my daughters PC networked into instead of wireless. I can then get a decent wired router and hide it out of the way.

Does anyone have at least 2 different models of Powerline adaptors on their network and has it created any negative effect on it?

I don't think there is any standard for power line adaptors, so there is no guarantee they work with other brands. I know if you use the same brand but a different speed one, it will just make all other adaptors run at that speed.

i used to, before moving, run a netgear with some other one, just check they conform to the same standard beforehand

Compatibility comes down to the chipset used.

My 85mbps ones use the Intellon chipset, and I have 3 different manufacturers versions, all worked well together..

The 85mbps didn't have many different chipset manufacturers, so it was pretty easy to get 'matching' devices from various manufacturers, but the 200mbps ones have a much larger mixture of chipsets in them.

You need to confirm the brand so we can tell if its homeplug 1, turbo or AV or one of the powerline products which may be homelug or one of 2 or 3 other technologies/chipsets.

A have zyxel and advent units working toegther with no problems

Before that I can confirm homeplug turbos (85mbps) usually work together fine provided they use the default encyrption settings otherwise you may have to set them (pretty easy).

Different Homeplug AV also mostly work fine together with the same note re default settings.

The latest homelug av units have a v3 firmware and devolo for example note soem restrictions on communicating with homeplug turbo models

The joy of homeplugs is that at default settings it takes 1 minute to unpack install and check if they connect

just about any homeplug turbo ie 85 mbps unit will attach without reconfguration to those units. Peak make very generic kit using defaults wherever possible.

You should be able to get one more for £25 ish new or a pair from £40

They are pretty good Homeplugs for the cheap price I paid for them. The utility tells me I get an average of 80mb/s. Whether that is true I dont know. Streaming AVI files are a breeze to the 360 and in a couple of weeks I get to test if they are any good streaming HD.

I will probably get another pack of them.
